Tufts Medical Center robbery

On October 23rd, 2012 at approximately 6:40 PM Transit Police officers assigned to Area 1 received a radio call to meet a victim of a robbery that occured at MBTA Tufts Medical Center station. Upon arrival officers located a female victim who informed the officers that while riding in a southbound Orange Line train she was set upon by several teenagers, both male and female, who physically assaulted her and forcefully removed her cell phone from her hand.  As the train pulled into Tufts Medical Center station the group of attackers exited the train and fled the station onto Tremont Street.

A short time later Transit Police officers conducting an area search for the suspects located a group fitting the description provided on Washington Street near the intersection of Union Park. The suspects were positively identified as the assailants and were placed into custody for Unarmed Robbery and Assault&Battery w/Dangerous Weapon. Four of the suspects placed into custody were juveniles, along with Kernisha Smith, 18 of Dorchester and Demario Barbara, 17 of Mattapan. All the arrestees' were transported to Transit Police HQ for processing.

Shortly thereafter a male, later identified as Eric Thompson, 18 of Dorchester, showed up to Transit Police HQ inquiring about bailing out the suspects who were arrested for the attack/robbery. A keen eyed Transit Police officer recognized Thompson as being involved in the attack at MBTA Tufts Medical Center station and placed him under arrest in the lobby of  TPD HQ for Unarmed Robbery and Assault&Battery w/Dangerous Weapon. All suspects will appear in either Boston Municipal Court or Boston Juvenile Court sometime today.
