Lynn man arrested for threatening T operator w/firearm

On October 27, 2017 at approximately 7:50PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the vicinity of Squire Road near the Revere Movie Cinema for a disturbance on board an MBTA bus. Upon arrival officers were met by the victims, an MBTA bus operator and a female passenger as well as several witnesses. The officers received the following information: a male while traveling on a Route 426 MBTA bus was threatening a female passenger for unknown reasons. The T operator observing what was taking place requested T police assistance and pulled the bus over. When the bus came to a complete stop the offending male stood up from his seat pulled his shirt up and displayed a firearm. As he did so he threatened to kill the MBTA bus operator as well as the female passenger. The offending male then exited the bus and fled in the direction of the movie cinema. TPD officers conducted an area search and located a male matching the description provided within the property of the cinema. The male, later identified as Hakeem Ricker, 20, of Lynn was positively identified by the victims as the offending male.

Revere Police also responded to assist the TPD. A Revere Police K9 Unit located a loaded firearm in close proximity to Ricker hidden in some gravel. Ricker was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Ricker will be charged with Assault by means of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Tips from MBTA community lead to arrest.

On October 24, 2017 we issued a photograph depicting a male subject of interest in an Open & Gross Investigation (see posting here). Subsequent to tips received from members of our MBTA community Transit Police detectives on 10/24/2017 arrested Albert Williams, 56, of Dorchester in the vicinity of 120 Cambridge Street, Boston. Williams was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Williams was also found to be in possession of what the officers believed to be crack cocaine.

The subject depicted within is wanted for questioning relative to an Open & Gross Lewdness onboard a northbound Red Line train between Downtown Crossing Station and Charles/MGH Station on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at approximately 9:35 AM.  After the victim expressed outrage the subject responded "what's your problem. You're not good enough for me to expose myself to".

Level 3 Sex Offender Arrested for Lewd Act while MBTA Red Line Train.

On October 14, 2017 Transit Police were alerted to a video a concerned passenger posted on Facebook depicting a male engaged in a lewd and lascivious act that took place on the MBTA's Red Line train on October 13th, 2017. The Transit Police Department immediately began an investigation.

Subsequent to that investigation TPD Detectives identified Anthony Sansone, 52, of Boston as the male in the video. Sansone, a registered Level 3 Sex Offender, was arrested early this morning (10/19/2017) for Open & Gross Lewdness and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

 

The Transit Police would like to give a heart felt thanks to the concerned citizen who involved herself and brought this to our attention.  Superintendent Sullivan personally called and spoke with her expressing gratitude on behalf of the Department.

Dorchester man arrested for robbery w/firearm.

On October 8, 2017 at approximately 5:30PM Transit Police officers received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Shawmut Ave Station for a report of an Armed Robbery. Upon arrival officers located the victim, a male, who informed the officers of the following; while at Shawmut Station the victim was approached by two male assailants who, while armed with a firearm, did rob the victim of his personal property as well as assault him with the firearm. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for emergency treatment.

Subsequent to an investigation by Transit Police detectives, Joseph Gomes, 21, of Dorchester was identified as one of the assailants. Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant to arrest Gomes as well as search his residence for evidence. On October 13, 2017 members of the Transit Police Department executed the search/arrest warrants at Gomes' residence. Gomes was located inside the residence and placed into custody. Additionally, TPD detectives seized a .40 Calibre firearm with a round in the chamber and several rounds loaded in the magazine. TPD Detectives also seized what they believed to be crack cocaine from Gomes' possession. Gomes was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.   

The investigation is ongoing.

Pair from New York arrested for Cruelty to Animals resulting in a dog's death.

On October 15, 2017 at approximately 6:08PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the Salem Commuter Rail Parking Garage for a report of a possible injured dog inside a parked vehicle. Upon arrival officers located the vehicle and observed the body of a lifeless French Bulldog in the front passenger seat and what appeared to be large amounts of vomit from the dog. As officers were making attempts to enter the vehicle, with assistance from the Salem Fire Department, the dog's owners, Brendan Bulfin, 38, of New York and Courtney Casey, 28, of New York, arrived on scene. Officers were now able to enter the vehicle and confirmed the 3 year old French Bulldog named "Nigil" was deceased.




Subsequent to an investigation by Transit Police Detectives to include witness and Nigil's owners interviews it is believed Nigil, initially alive and well, was left unattended in an enclosed vehicle in excess of 5 hours on a 73 degree day. Studies have shown on an average 75 degree day the temperature inside an enclosed vehicle will raise to 122 degrees in 1 hour.




Bulfin and Casey were placed into custody for Cruelty to Animals and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Boston man arrested for illegal possession of firearm by TPD officers.

On October 11, 2017 at approximately 3:05PM Transit Police officers were on patrol at the MBTA's Dudley Station when they were alerted to a "shots fired" call in the vicinity of Dudley Station. Shortly thereafter they received a description of the subjects who may have been involved and that the subjects may have fled through Dudley Station.


Officers located a male subject, later identified as Jeavoni Celester-Thistle, 18, of Boston fitting the description on Warren & Zeigler Street. Subsequent to an investigation officers located a .22 caliber handgun in Celester-Thistle's possession.

Celester-Thistle was placed into custody for illegal possession of a firearm and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Fare evader caught in possession of illegal firearm.

Rosba Taylor

On October 10, 2017 at approximately 5:30PM members of the TPD's Crime Suppression Team were at the MBTA's Haymarket Station conducting Point of Entry Policing when their attention was drawn to a male later identified as Rosba Taylor, 25, of Lynn. Taylor fare evaded by piggybacking in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Taylor for the purpose of issuing a citation. Taylor provided the officers with a false name and date of birth. When the officers informed Taylor the name provided did not match Taylor then offered a another fictitious name. Ultimately officers informed Taylor he was under arrest for failing to identify himself. As the officers attempted to take control of Taylor he began to shift his body away from the officers. Ultimately Taylor was placed in custody and officers recovered a fully loaded with one in the chamber .22 caliber handgun from his waistband.

 Taylor was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

During the booking process Taylor was found to be in possession of what the officers believed to be crack cocaine.

Trespasser struck in Somerville. Confirmed Fatality.

On October 11 2017 at approximately 6:30AM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to Somerville for a person possibly struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train. Several TPD units responded along with Somerville Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a female, approximate age of 20's, in the vicinity of Washington Street, while trespassing on the right of way was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train on the Fitchburg Line.

 The female has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

Transit Police Detectives along with the Middlesex County DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

TPD confirm fatality: trespasser struck in Concord.

On October 9 2017 at approximately 10:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to Concord for a person possibly struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train. Several TPD units responded along with Concord Police, Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a male, in the vicinity of Nashoba Road, while trespassing on the right of way was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train on the Fitchburg Line.

 The male, age unknown, has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

Transit Police Detectives along with the Concord Police & Middlesex County DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Trespasser struck near Waban on Green Line.

On October 9, 2017 at approximately 9:15PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the Waban stop on the D Branch of the Green Line for a person possibly struck by a train. Several TPD units along with Newton Fire and EMS responded. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a Green Line Trolley, D Branch, as it was approaching Waban Station suddenly/unexpectedly a male entered onto the right of way. The male was struck and sustained serious life threatening injuries as a result. The male has been transported to a local area hospital for emergency treatment.

Transit Police detectives are on scene and investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Trespasser Struck: Yawkey Way.

On October 4, 2017 at approximately 3:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to Yawkey Station for a person possibly struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train. Several TPD units responded along with Boston Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a male while standing on the platform unexpectedly entered onto the right of way as the train was approaching and was struck by an outbound MBTA Commuter Rail train on the Worcester Line

 The male, approx. age of 20, has been transported to a local area hospital with life threatening/critical injuries.

Transit Police Detectives along with the Suffolk County DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

MBTA Ayer Commuter Rail Evacuation Drill – Sunday, October 15^th

Pan Am Railways Willow Street Yard, Ayer, MA

On Sunday, October 15th at approximately 10 AM, the MBTA will be conducting an emergency evacuation drill on a commuter rail train in the Ayer area with the assistance of numerous local, state, and private partners. While the exercise is scheduled from approximately 10am to 12pm, surrounding neighbors can expect heightened activity in the area starting as early as 8am. No MBTA service impacts or local street traffic impacts are expected.

The exercise is designed to establish a learning environment for public safety officials to exercise emergency response plans, policies, and procedures as they pertain to a mass casualty event on a commuter rail train. To ensure an effective exercise, subject matter experts and representatives from numerous agencies took part in the planning process and will take part in the exercise conduct and evaluation.

As part of the exercise scenario, a collision between a Pan Am freight train locomotive and an MBTA commuter rail train will be simulated. Numerous volunteers from the public are expected to participate in the role of passengers and injured victims. Artificial smoke may be generated to add realism.

Agencies playing in this exercise include the MBTA, MBTA Transit Police, Keolis, Pan Am Railways, Ayer Fire Department, Ayer Police Department, and several surrounding towns providing mutual aid.

Media and other observers are invited to attend; all are asked to register in advance with Joe Pesaturo, MBTA Director of Communications. On exercise day, all must check-in with Bob Northrup, MassDOT Deputy Director of Security & Emergency Management, by 9:30 AM at the tent in the Pan Am Railways Yard off Willow Road (Berkshire Blvd) in Ayer.
