South Boston man wanted for Assault on Police caught fare evading.

On September 29, 2016 at approximately 10:00PM members of the TPD's Crime Suppression Team were on patrol at the MBTA's Andrew Sq. station when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Stephen Berry, 46, of South Boston. Berry fare evaded through the fare gates by "Piggybacking" in behind a paying patron. Officers approached Berry to issue a citation and subsequently discovered he had several warrants in existence for his arrest issued by Quincy District Court for Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Larceny Over 250.00, Receiving Stolen Property and Receiving a Stolen MV. Berry was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Dorchester man threatens police officers with his pit bull

On September 24, 2016 at approximately 8:40PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA Wonderland station for a report of an aggressive pit bull on board an MBTA bus. Upon arrival officers were met by the bus operator who informed the officers he as well as other passengers felt unsafe due to the pit bull's aggressive behavior. Officers approached the owner of the dog, later identified as Johnny Sadm, 19, of Dorchester, and explained to him the dog's behavior was making his fellow passengers feel unsafe. Officers also informed Sadm he would have to exit the bus and they would assist him with alternate means of transportation.

Sadm, using course and foul language, responded by informing the officers he was not getting off the bus and the officers would have to drag him and his dog off. Due to Sadm's threats and demeanor officers were forced to place the other passengers onto another bus. At this time Sadm exited the bus and walked into the bus way but rather then continuing on his way Sadm felt the need to shout out insults directed at the officers creating a tumultuous environment. Sadm then held his dog in an aggressive threatening manner and asked his dog  "Do you want to eat them?" referring to the officers. Sadm was asked to vacate the station several times but refused and continued his threatening and disorderly conduct. Subsequently officers attempted to arrest Sadm however he violently resisted and attempted to swing his pit bull at the officers. Eventually Sadm was subdued and placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Sadm was found to be in possession of what officers believed to be cocaine. He will be arraigned sometime today for Assault, Trespassing, Resisting Arrest and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The dog was released to a female companion.

Dorchester man arrested on Warrants after fare evading.

On September 21, 2016 at approximately 10:30 PM Transit Police officers from the TPD's Crime Suppression Team were on patrol at the MBTA's Andrew Sq. station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Michael Mayo, 25, of Dorchester. Mayo gained access to the southbound platform without paying his fare. Officers approached Mayo and subsequently discovered he had several warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Dorchester District Court for Breaking & Entering a Vehicle, Larceny Over 250.00, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlicensed operation and Malicious Destruction of Property.


As the officers attempted to place Mayo into custody he attempted to flee from the officers. After a brief struggle officers were able to gain control of Mayo. Mayo was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Boston man wanted for Rape caught Up Skirting at MBTA station

O September 20, 2016 at approximately 3:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Porter Sq. station for a report of a male who was secretly taking videos of female passengers. Upon arrival the officer was met by a female victim who informed them a fellow passenger pointed out a male, later identified as James Cullers,51, of Boston and stated " He's video taping up your skirt". The victim confronted Cullers who admitted to the act and agreed to delete the video. The victim then pointed out Cullers to the officer.



The officer approached Cullers who was holding a cellular telephone in his hand. Upon approach of the officer Culler began to manipulate the phone and apologize. Subsequent to an investigation Cullers was placed into custody for Making a Secret Video (Known as the Up Skirting Law) and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During the booking process it was discovered there was a warrant for Cullers arrest issued from Wareham District Court for Rape and 2 counts of Indecent Assault & Battery on a person Over 14.

It is expected Cullers will be arraigned today in Cambridge District Court.

Escapee caught smoking inside T station.

On September 19, 2016 at approximately 4:30PM members of the TPD's Crime Suppression Team were on patrol at the MBTA's Mass Ave Station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Randy Thomas, 36, of Quincy. Thomas was standing on the platform smoking from a cigarette in close proximity to several NO Smoking signs. Officers approached Thomas and requested his information in order to issue a citation. Subsequently officers discovered Thomas had recently escaped from a pre release program and had an active warrant for his arrest out of Dedham District Court for Escape from Penal Institution.


Thomas was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Thomas was also found to be in possession of a controlled narcotic of which he did not possess a prescription.

Transit Police confirm fatality in Newton. Trespasser struck.

On September 16, 2016 at approximately 8:45pm Transit Police along with Newton Fire and EMS responded Newtonville Commuter Rail for a report of a person struck by a train. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: in the vicinity of the West Newton off ramp in Newtonville, a male approximately in his teens, while trespassing on the inbound track was struck by a MBTA Worcester branch Commuter Rail train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

Transit Police detectives and representatives from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Roslindale man arrested for Lewd Conduct

On September 15, 2016 at approximately 2:30pm a Transit Police officer assigned to the Central District was on patrol at the MBTA's Back Bay station. While there he was approached by a male victim who informed him of the following; while utilizing the men's restroom located inside the station a male exposed his genitals and began to commit a lewd act. The victim provided a description of the offending male and the officer entered the men's restroom to investigate. Subsequent to the officer's investigation and a positive ID from the victim Neville Pinnock, 66, of Roslindale was placed into custody for Open & Gross Lewdness and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. It is expected Pinnock will be arraigned sometime today in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division.

Arlington man arrested for OUI.

On September 16, 2016 at approximately 12:02AM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Alewife station for a report of a motor vehicle accident inside the parking garage. Upon arrival officers met with the involved parties. Subsequent to conversing with one of the operators, later identified as Gaurav Gulati, 36, of Arlington, officers suspected he may be under the influence of alcohol. Based on the officers observations, witness statements and Gulati's performance of a Field Sobriety Test he was placed into custody for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of Liquor. Gulati was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process and is expected to be arraigned sometime today in Cambridge
District Court.

Boston man identified & Arrested for Assault.

On August 3, 2016 at approximately 8:00AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Broadway Station for a report of an assault. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a female, who relayed the following information : Victim was on a red line train, as the train stopped at Andrew Sq. to allow passengers to board a male entered and began to threaten and intimidate other riders and pushed his way through. The victim began to video tape his conduct and the male threatened and then assaulted the victim knocking her phone to the ground. The assailant then exited at Broadway Station.

The victim provided Transit Police with the video which depicted the aforementioned male assailant. As a result of a thorough investigation by Transit Police Detectives, Vincente Lomba, 25, of Boston was arrested on 09/09/2016 at Andrew Sq. station. Vincente will face the following charges; Intimidation of a Witness, Assault and Battery and Threats to Commit a Crime.

Transit Police investigate fatality--UPDATE

Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office have identified the male as Boston University student, Xianhu Chen, 17, of China. NO further updates.


On September 7, 2016 at approximately 12:15AM Transit Police officers received a radio call to investigate a possible body located on the Worcester Line tracks by Boston University under the Mass Pike. Upon arrival officers did observe a lifeless body. Transit Police detectives on scene report the following preliminary information; a male, approximate age of 18, while trespassing on the right of way was struck by a MBTA Commuter Rail train. The male was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Suffolk County DA's Office are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Quincy man arrested for Illegal Possession of Handgun

On September 2, 2016 at approximately 1:30PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the North District was on patrol at the MBTA's Porter Sq. Commuter Rail station. While there his attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Patrick Williams-Denis, 21, of Quincy. Williams-Denis was seated on a bench at the far end of the Commuter Rail platform and appeared to be rolling a marijuana cigarette. The officer proceeded in Williams-Denis' location to further observe. Upon approached the officer observed what he believed to be marijuana and in fact Williams-Denis admitted he was preparing a marijuana cigarette. Williams-Denis claimed to have additional marijuana in his possession and consented to a search of his contents. Subsequently the officer recovered a 32 caliber handgun loaded to capacity from Williams-Denis' backpack, additional individually wrapped baggies of marijuana and a scale. The officer determined Williams-Denis did not possess a license to carry a firearm. He was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Williams-Denis will arraigned sometime today in Cambridge District Court for the following offences: Possession of a Firearm w/Defaced serial number and Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute.
