Trespasser struck. Fatality confirmed Concord.

On January 30, 2020 at approximately 11:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Nouth District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Conant Street Crossing in West Concord  for a report of a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple TPD units responded along with Concord Police/Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: A male, approximate age of 18, while trespassing on the right of way, west of the Conant Street Crossing was struck by a commuter rail train on Track 1. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. TPD Detectives, Concord Police and representatives of the Middlesex County DA's Office are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Foul play is NOT suspected.

Male assaulted and robbed at Back Bay Station. Arrested by TPD

On January 25, 2020 at approximately 9:30AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Back Bay station for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a male 62 years of age, and witnesses who relayed the following information: The victim while standing on the Orange Line platform was assaulted in the back of his head with a closed fist by a male who also relieved the victim of his sunglasses. The victim was struck with enough force that he fell to the ground. While on the ground the assailant struck the victim several more times about his face and head. Witnesses provided responding officers with a detailed description and an area search was conducted.

The initial area search was unsuccessful, however determined officers never gave up and at approximately 12PM located a male, later identified as Anthony Zaniboni, 33, of Boston on Summer & Chauncy Street in Boston matching the description given. Officers approached Zaniboni and soon discovered there were several warrants in existence for his arrest issued out of Boston Municipal Court for Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Malicious Destruction of Property and Trespassing. Zaniboni was also in possession of the victim's sunglasses and admitted to the robbery. Zaniboni was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Michael Coyne

On December 31, 2019 we posted on our newsblog relative to an arrest at MBTA Aquarium Station. (See posting here). Fast forward to January 22, 2020 at 9PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were on patrol at Aquarium Station when a concerned citizen informed them the male who fled from them back in December 2019 was just in the station. Officers quickly located the male, Michael Coyne, 38, of Boston. Coyne was placed into custody for several outstanding warrants for his arrest issued from Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Domestic Assault & Battery, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Assault, Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.

Coyne was transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

West Newton CR.

On January 17, 2020 at approximately 10AM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's West Newton Commuter Rail station for a report of a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple TPD units responded along with Newton Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: An adult female, approximate age of 20, while trespassing on the right of way was struck by an inbound commuter rail train on Track 2. The female was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. TPD Detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected

Brooklyn man caught with 10 pounds of Marijuana.

On January 9, 2020 at approximately 3:16PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were on patrol at the MBTA's South Station Bus Terminal. While there they were approached by a concerned employee at the Bus Terminal of a very pungent odor of marijuana coming from a particular travel bag located near the Concord Coach Bus lane. Subsequent to an investigation officers discovered the bag contained just over 10 pounds of marijuana and a scale. The owner of the marijuana, Steve Theard, 36, of Brooklyn, New York was placed into custody for Possession with the Intent to Distribute. Theard was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Sharon man caught fare evading was wanted in Somerville District Court.

Daniel Namiatov

On January 7, 2020 at approximately 12:47PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were on patrol at the MBTA's Andrew Sq. station when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Daniel Namiatov, 25, of Sharon. Namiatov fare evaded by "Piggybacking" in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Namiatov for the purpose of issuing a citation and subsequently discovered there was a warrant in existence for Namiatov's arrest issued out of Somerville District Court for Receiving Stolen Property Over 1,200.00. Namiatov was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Revere man caught breaking into Dunkin Donuts at Ruggles Station.

Kamil Mogielnicki

On January 7, 2020 at approximately 3:46AM Transit Police officers assigned in the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Ruggles Station for an individual breaking into the Dunkin Donuts located within. Upon arrival officers observed a male, later identified as Kamil Mogielnicki, 35, of Revere. Mogielnicki had a t-shirt covering his face only his eyes were visible. Officers detained Mogielnicki and ascertained the following: An employee was present inside the Dunkin Donuts and fearfully watched as Mogielnicki attempted to break inside using a knife and blunt object on the window. The employee then called 911.

Mogielnicki was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process it was discovered there was a warrant for Mogielnicki's arrest  issued from Dorchester District Court for Drug Possession. Additionally, during the booking process Mogielnicki was found to be in possession narcotics for which he did not have a prescription.

Newton Center

On January 4, 2020 at approximately 7:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to Newton Center MBTA station for a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police units responded along with Newton Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a female, approximate age of 40, was struck by an inbound Green Line train on the D branch. The woman has been transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. No further information available at this time.

Boston man punches out MBTA bus window.

Carlos Agrinsoni

On January 2, 2019 at approximately 10:26AM a male, later identified as Carlos Agrinsoni, 36, of Boston entered an MBTA bus while at Ashmont Station. Once on board Agrinsoni requested he ride for free. The operator informed him he must pay his fare. This apparently angered Agrinsoni as he punched the window of the bus door shattering it. Unfortunately for Arginsoni a Transit Police officer was a short distance away and observed Agrinsoni in action. Agrinsoni was placed into custody for Malicious Destruction of Property and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Two males bullying MBTA passengers meet members of the MOP Unit

Tobias Chance

On December 31, 2019 at approximately 5:45PM Transit Police MOP Unit officers were on patrol at the MBTA's Back Bay station. While there they were notified the incoming Oak Grove bound train had two males on board who were harassing and intimidating other passengers. Officers immediately made their way to the platform and awaited its arrival. As the train pulled into the station and the doors opened two males, later identified as Tobias Chance, 19, of East Boston and Raashan Severino, 18, of Boston exited and began to scream "Number 1" multiple times and pointing at the officers. At this time a male victim, over 60 years of age, exited the train and informed the officers Chance and Severino were bullying other passengers and Chance physically assaulted him while on board and prevented him from calling police. Upon seeing the victim speak with officers Chance and Severino fled.

Raashan Severino

The dedicated TPD officers gave chase and were able to stop both subjects. Ultimately Chance was placed into custody for Assault & Battery on an Elderly Person and Intimidation of a Witness. Chance was also in possession of a replica firearm. Severino was placed into custody for Possession of a Class B Narcotics. Both Chance and Severino were transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.
