Mohamed Noor |
On January 26, 2016 at approximately 12:45am Transit Police officers working in Area 2 received a radio call to respond to Malden Center MBTA station for a report of an MBTA bus operator who was assaulted. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim/MBTA employee who informed them of the following; while stopped in the Commercial Street busway a male, later identified as
Mohamed Noor, 29, of Malden, entered the bus. Noor however stood in the doorway preventing the victim from closing the doors and continuing on his route. Eventually Noor boarded but refused to pay his fare, the victim explained to Noor he would have to pay his fare or exit the bus. Noor began to make verbal threats and insults towards the victim and in doing so placed other passengers in fear of their safety. When the victim refused to move the bus Noor struck the victim in the face and head with his scarf and hands.
Officers caught up to Noor, who was in the process of walking away from the station, and attempted to speak with him. Noor became combative towards the officers threatening them with physical harm. Noor was placed into custody for Assaulting a Public Employee and Disorderly Conduct and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. This is not the TPD's first encounter with Noor (
