Find my Phone APP works again !!

On June 24, 2017 at approximately 6:30PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the North District was on patrol at the MBTA's Malden Center Station when he was approached by a victim who informed the officer his cell phone was stolen earlier in the day at Malden Center station. The victim went on to state he was utilizing the "Find my Phone APP" which indicated the phone was "pinging" on the Red Line near Central Sq. MBTA Station. With this information Transit Police were able to locate an individual, later identified as Jeremy Gillis, 33, of Cambridge at Prospect Street near River Street in Central Sq. Cambridge.


Gillis was found to be in possession of the victim's cell phone as well as other stolen credit cards. Gillis was placed into custody for Receiving Stolen Property and transported to Transit Police HQ for the booking process.

Trespasser struck on Lowell Line.

Death Investigation
On June 22, 2017 at approximately 11:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call for a report of a person who was possibly struck by a train. Multiple TPD units responded along Lowell Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information : in the vicinity of Lundberg and O'Neil Street a 28 year old male while trespassing on the right of way was struck by an outbound MBTA Commuter Rail train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Middlesex District Attorney's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Confirmed fatality. Trespasser struck Ruggles MBTA

Death Investigation
On June 22, 2017 at approximately 12:30PM a female, age not determined, was trespassing on the right of way Orange Line southbound side at Ruggles MBTA station. The woman was struck by the train and has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. This is still an active situation. The MBTA will set up a bus diversion while Transit Police detectives and representative of Suffolk County DA's Office process the scene. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Boston man arrested for Indecent Assault.

On June 20, 2017 at approximately 8:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were on patrol at the MBTA's South Station Bus Terminal when they were approached by a female victim who reported she was just indecently assaulted. The victim went on to state as she was plugging in her iPhone to charge she was indecently assaulted from behind by a male, later identified as Stephen Bova, 64, of Boston. The victim further informed the officers Bova was still on scene and seated upstairs in the terminal waiting area.


Officers immediately proceeded in that direction and located Bova who was positively identified by the victim. Bova was placed into custody for Indecent Assault & Battery and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

UPDATE : Violin located.

The subject depicted within has been identified and is NO longer a person of interest and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, a violin valued at $ 40,000.00 was lost at South Station at 12:04 am. The unidentified individual depicted above took possession of the violin after it was left behind. The violin has not been located as of Tuesday, 06/20/17. Information relative to the identity of the woman depicted is requested in an attempt to locate the violin and return it to the owner.  Contact the Transit Police Criminal Investigation Unit with any information you have at 617-222-1050 or anonymously via text at 873873.

Confirmed fatality Salem

On June 9, 2017 at approximately 8PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to Salem, MA. for a person possibly struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train. Multiple Transit Police units responded along with Salem Fire and EMS. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: in the vicinity of Castle Hill interlocking, Salem a commuter rail train (Rockport/Newburyport Line) struck a male who was trespassing on the inbound track. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

The male is reported to be 11 years of age. There are no adequate words to aptly convey the utter tragic event this is. TPD Detectives along with representatives of the Essex County DA's Office are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. We ask that you respect the victim's family's privacy at this time.

Transit Police monitor attacks in London

The Transit Police Department offers our most sincere sympathies and condolences to those impacted by the incidents in London. The TPD is in contact with our local, state and federal partners to include the FBI, Boston Regional intelligence Center and the Commonwealth Fusion Center. There is no known credible threat at this time to the MBTA, however, to assure our riding public the TPD will increase patrols and visibility on the system in the coming days.

Confirmed fatality Lynn: Trespasser struck

Death Investigation
On June 2, 2017 at approximately 5:50PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the Lynn Commuter Rail station for a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police units responded along with Lynn Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: an unknown white female, approx age of 40's, while trespassing on the inbound track was struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train approximately 100 yards south of the platform. The female has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Essex County DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.
