On February 26, 2021 at approximately 6:30PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the South District was at the MBTA's Ashmont station on patrol when he was approached by an MBTA employee who informed him of the following: a male, later identified as Carlos Pires, 46, homeless/Boston fare evaded then stood in front in the fare gate preventing it from closing. The MBTA employee requested he pay his fare and remove himself from the gate. As a response Pires began shouting profanities and then spat at the T employee (the employee was sable to evade the spit).
The officer approached Pires and ultimately discovered there were several warrants in existence for Pires' arrest issued from Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Assault & Battery on an Ambulance Personnel, Assault, and 2 counts Threats to Commit a Crime, Roxbury District Court for Malicious Destruction of Property, South Boston Boston District Court for Open & Gross Lewdness and Dorchester District Court for Assault & Battery and Trespassing on Railroad tracks.
Pires was placed into custody and transported to TPD-HQ for the arrest booking process.
