Thought we forgot about him

Transit Police/Marc Sico
On March 13th, 2011 in the early morning hours Transit Police officers assigned to Area 4 were patrolling through Back Bay MBTA station when their attention was drawn to 3 males who were viciously attacking a homeless male victim. The male assailants were punching and kicking the victim, upon seeing the police they immediately fled out of the station onto Darthmouth Street. As officers were rendering aid to the victim he informed them he was sleeping when suddenly the assailants were punching and kicking him in the face to wake him up. Victim stated he had no prior conflict with his attackers and did not understand why they attacked him. Apparently, viciously attacking a defenseless sleeping male was not enough for the group. Shortly after the assault in Back Bay station Boston Police responded to the corner of Darthmouth and St. James Street to meet two victims who were also viciously assaulted in an unprovoked attacked. The two victims also suffered the onslaught of punches and kicks about their body. Transit and Boston Police conducted a coordinated area search for the assailants, Transit Police officers observed two males fitting the description on Boylston Street and stopped them to further investigate. Both males were positively identified by the victims as their attackers. Transit Police arrested both males, later identifed as Marc Sico, 21 of Medford,MA and James Marino, 21 also of Medford,MA.

Sico subsequently failed to appear for his court appearances and Boston Municipal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. This morning, September 28th, 2012 members of the Transit Police Department arrested Sico at his residence in Medford,Ma. Sico will appear before a Judge in Boston Municipal Court sometime this afternoon.

Didn't know when to Quit

On September 10th, 2012 at approximately 10:00pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 4 were dispatched to Ruggles MBTA station for a report of a male party being disruptive onboard a bus. When the officers arrived they observed Demetrin Dabney, 24 of Dorchester standing in the doorway of the bus and yelling at transportation officials. Officers intervened and were informed Dabney was asked to leave the bus due to his drinking from an open container of alcohol and was refusing to do so. Officers removed Dabney from the bus and educated him on the MBTA's policy regarding alcohol consumption while on the T. Dabney did not take the officers lesson well as he angrily shouted at them, causing other patrons present to move away. Officers received his verbal abuse in stride and informed Dabney he was being ejected from Ruggles station and issued him a Trespass notice not to return for the evening.

Transit Police/Demetrin Dabney
Dabney walked approximately 50 feet out of the station then stopped, turned around and began returning back towards Ruggles station. When Dabney reached the front of the busway he picked up a rock and threw it at the officers, thankfully not striking them. Officers began to make their way towards Dabney when he threw yet another rock at them, thankfully not hitting them. Dabney then fled and was out of view of the officers. Approximately 5 minutes later Dabney again returned into Ruggles station, officers spotted him and placed him into custody for Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Trespassing. During this time a witness came forward to police and informed them earlier Dabney punched the glass door on an MBTA bus parked in the lower busway causing it to break. Fare Evasion Update for 2012

So far this year (as of today's date 09/10/2012) Transit Police officers have issued 3,390 fare evasion citations system wide. Last year MBTA Transit Police officers issued a total 3,412 fare evasion citations. Superintendent-in-Chief Joseph O'Connor stated, "with approximately 3 and half months remaining in the year clearly we will eclipse last year's total. Our officers as part of their daily duties will continue to enforce fare evasion violations throughout the MBTA".  Supt. O'Connor further added " this is just a small part of the professional police services our officers deliver to our MBTA community on a daily basis".

Transit Police/David Connolly
Of those 3,390 fare evaders this year not all receive their citation peacefully. On September 7th, 2012 at approximately 5:50pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 4 were at Forest Hills MBTA station enforcing fare evasion violations. While there their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as David Connolly, 56 of Everett, MA. who entered the paid area of the station without paying his fare. Officers approached Connolly to issue him a citation for fare evasion, however Connolly was very uncooperative and used several expletives directed at the officers. Connolly made such a scene that other patrons present began to gather which caused congestion around the fare machines. Officers did their best to get Connolly to comply and furnish his identification to no avail. Ultimately Connolly's actions led to officers placing him into custody for Disorderly Conduct. However Connolly actively resisted the officers attempts creating a further distrubance. Eventually Connolly was brought under control and transported to Transit Police HQ. Connolly will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest and appear in West Roxbury District Court sometime today. Connolly was also issued a citation for fare evasion.
