50TH Anniversary: Open House celebration 10/13/2018

 The MBTA Transit Police will reach a milestone this December. We as an agency will turn 50 !!!! To celebrate and recognize such an occasion we are having an open house on October 13, 2018 at Transit Police Headquarters, located at 240 Southampton Street, Roxbury, MA., from 11AM to 3PM. This event is open to the public and will feature, free food & ice cream, face painting & temporary tattoos for the children, TPD Commemorative T-shirts, a display of Department resources, K9 demonstrations and a tour of our HQ. If your schedule permits we would love to see you there, meet some Transit Police officers, learn some of our history and enjoy some great tasting food.

Quincy man arrested for Attempted Bike Larceny

On September 24, 2018 at approximately 3:15PM a Transit Police detective was in the vicinity of the North Quincy MBTA station bike rack in response to bicycle thefts. While there the detective observed a male, later identified as Anthony Dimeco, 35, of Quincy. Dimeco was shaking a secured bike and attempting to pull the lock away from the crossbar. Dimeco then proceeded to the next bicycle and began pulling on it in an attempt to remove from the rack. Dimeco, unsuccessful in his first two attempts, then proceeded to try a 3rd bike at this time the TPD detective approached Dimeco and displayed his badge. Dimeco blurted out " I haven't stolen the bike yet, I have only been trying "


Dimeco was placed into custody for Attempted Larceny of a Bicycle and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking

On September 3, 2018 at approximately 9:15PM a 32 year old pregnant female was about to enter into Andrew Sq. MBTA station. At this time a male, pictured within, began to shout at and intimidate the pregnant victim attempting to persuade her into paying his fare. The victim ignored the lout and proceeded through the fare gates. The assailant then evaded his fare aggressively approached the victim and spat into her face.

No Nelson NO !!!!!!! Too late.

On September 20, 2018 at approximately 9:40PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call for a man inside the MBTA Oak Grove parking lot damaging vehicles. Upon arrival an officer observed a male, later identified as Nelson Faria, 41, of Malden actively attempting to smash the window of an unoccupied Transit Police cruiser. The TPD officer interrupted Faria's attempts and a brief struggle ensued. The officer was ultimately able to gain control of Faria and place him into custody.

A review of our public safety camera system revealed Faria forcefully ripped off the front license plate of the Transit Police cruiser and then proceeded to urinate all over the side of our TPD cruiser. It was at this time Faria attempted to smash out the window.

TIPS from our MBTA Community lead to arrest of Level 3 Sex Offender

On Sunday September 16, 2018 we issued a photo depicting a male subject of interest relative to an Indecent Assault & Battery investigation. (see posting here). As a direct result of numerous tips that came in from members of our MBTA community Transit Police detectives arrested Tyler Grace, 36, of Winthrop this morning. Grace, a registered Level 3 Sex Offender, will be arraigned sometime today in Brookline District Court for the above referenced charge.

We would like to take this opportunity to once again praise and acknowledge all those who provided us with tips. You are directly responsible for the identification and getting a Level 3 Sex Offender off of the MBTA system and help bring justice to the victim in this matter.  Our MBTA community ALWAYS come through !! Together we can maintain as safe a system as possible

Trespasser struck in Waltham.

On September 12, 2018 at approximately 7PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to Waltham for a report of a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple TPD units responded along with Waltham Fire and EMS. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: A male, approximately 20 years of age, while trespassing on the westbound track on the Fitchburg Line, in the vicinity of 400 River Street was struck by a MBTA Commuter Rail train. The male has sustained serious injuries and has been transported to a Boston hospital for emergency treatment.

Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Chelsea man arrested for Indecent Assault at Downtown Crossing MBTA

On September 9, 2018 at approximately 10AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Downtown Crossing station to meet a victim of an assault. Upon arrival officers were met by a female who reported the following: while walking in the corridor from the Red Line to the Orange Line the victim was Indecently Assaulted by an unknown male. The unknown male then fled towards the Chauncy Street exit. The victim provided officers with a description of her assailant.

TPD officers conducted a thorough area search and located Isaisa Plaza, 18,  of Chelsea who was positively identified as the offending male. Plaza was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. Plaza will face the charge of Indecent Assault & Battery in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division.

Trespasser struck confirmed fatality Porter Sq.

On September 9, 2018 at approximately 7AM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call for a person possibly struck by a Red Line train at Porter Sq. MBTA Station. Multiple TPD units responded along with Cambridge Fire and EMS. TPD personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: A male, 66 years of age, while trespassing on the right of way approximately 10 yards into the northbound tunnel was struck by a Red Line train. The male was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. A temporary bus shuttle service was set up. Service has resumed normal and the scene is clear.

Transit Police detectives and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office is investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected. NO further updates.

Boston man arrested for Assaulting an elderly male.

On September 3, 2018 at approximately 10:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's JFK-UMass station for a report of an elderly man who was assaulted. Upon arrival officers located a 75 year old male victim who had visible wounds to his face requiring a transport to the hospital for treatment/evaluation. Prior to being transported the victim stated he was set upon by an unknown male who instigated a physical confrontation with him. The assailant while standing over the victim, who was seated inside the train car, struck the victim in the face multiple times as well as spat upon him. The assailant then fled. Witnesses corroborated the victim's version of events.

Subsequent to a expeditious and thorough investigation by Transit Police detectives Wayne Wallace, 39, of Boston was placed into custody on September 5, 2018 for the above referenced assault.
