Missing Person Alert;

Hui Yiag Chen

The Boston Police Department are seeking assistance from the public in efforts to locate a missing ninety year old woman who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease in Downtown Boston.  The victim, Hui Yiag Chen, is described as an Asian female, 5'01, 120 lbs., grey hair, brown eyes, wearing a maroon colored Columbia fleece jacket, grey pants, black shoes and a name tag around her neck.  She was last seen today at about 6:44 AM in the area of 115 Chauncy Street.  Her family is deeply concerned since she has not left her apartment in several years. The Boston Police Department has distributed photographs of this missing female to the district officers, detail officers and local businesses in the Chinatown area of Boston.

Anyone with information regarding Hui Yiag Chen is urged to contact  District A-1 Detectives at (617) 343-4248.

The second (unarmed) occurred on Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Hispanic male, approximately 22 years old, 5’08”-5’10” in height, thin, wearing black sweatpants, and a black sweatshirt.  The male also has a tattoo behind one of his ears.

Boston man arrested at Back Bay station for warrant.

Derrick Gordon

On April 28, 2015 at approximately 9:20am Transit Police officers working in Area 1 were on patrol at the MBTA's Back Bay Station. While there they observed a male, later identified as Derrick Gordon, 32, of Boston who appeared to be injecting an unknown liquid substance into his body. Officers encountered Gordon and subsequently discovered there was an arrest warrant in existence for his arrest issued from Quincy District Court for Receiving Stolen Property. Gordon was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

 The subject is described as: A black male with a light complexion, wearing dark blue jeans, gray boots, a black and gray colored North Face fleece jacket with a  navy blue hooded sweatshirt underneath the North Face fleece.

Trespasser struck ; NON life threatening.

On April 26, 2015 at approximately 10am Transit Police officers working in Area 4 received a radio call to respond to Norfolk Commuter Rail station for a person possibly struck by a train. Several TPD Units along with Norfolk Fire and EMS responded. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a 66 year old male, who was trespassing in the right of way area, was struck by an inbound MBTA Commuter Rail Franklin line train ( no passengers were on board at the time of incident ). The male sustain NON life threatening injuries and was med flighted to Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston for treatment.

Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances leading to the incident.

Point of Entry Policing- Ruggles MBTA

Julio Morales

On April 23, 2015 at approximately 12pm Transit Police officers working in Area 4 were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's Ruggles station. While there they observed a male, later identified as Julio Morales, 26, of Roxbury fare evade by "piggybacking" in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Morales for the purpose of issuing a citation and subsequently discovered there were three warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Boston Municipal Court for Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny Over 250.00 and Uttering a false check. Morales was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process Morales was found to be in possession of just under one ounce of marijuana.

Morales was issued a citation for fare evasion and possession of marijuana.

 The incident occurred on an outbound Green Line “E” trolley.  The subject exited the trolley at Northeastern University’s trolley stop.

Press Release from Suffolk County District Attorney's Office; Dudley MBTA deadly shooting

Second Defendant Guilty in 2013 Murder

 

BOSTON, April 21, 2015—The second of two men who took part in the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Courtney Jackson at the Dudley MBTA station has been found guilty of murder, Suffolk County District attorney Daniel F. Conley said today.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted JAMEL BANNISTER (D.O.B. 10/7/90) of Dorchester of second-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.  The jury acquitted him of charges of possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance and possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance in a school zone. 

Bannister’s co-defendant, BRIAN COOPER (D.O.B. 1/19/88) of Mattapan, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder earlier this month.  Both had been indicted for first-degree murder.

Assistant District Attorney David Fredette presented evidence and testimony to prove that at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 28, 2013, Bannister accompanied Cooper to the Dudley MBTA station, where they became involved in a verbal altercation with Jackson.  Footage from MBTA public safety cameras at the station showed Cooper pulling out a firearm and shooting Jackson twice as the victim, who had recently gotten off of one bus, turned to board another. 

The footage also depicts Bannister pulling something from his pocket at that same time that Cooper produced a firearm; additional video footage shows him holding something to his side as he fled.

Two Boston Police officers working a detail nearby heard the gunshots and rushed to the area to see the two men running from the scene.  Cooper surrendered to officers and was found to be in possession of a firearm.

Bannister continued to flee from officers and was taken into custody in the area of Madison Park Court.  A .45 semiautomatic firearm was found tossed over a fence along his path of flight.

Bannister returns to court at 9:30 tomorrow morning for sentencing before Judge Richard Welch.  Cooper faces sentencing May 5.

Trespasser struck-Fatality confirmed -Fitchburg

Death Investigation

On April 18, 2015 at approximately 9:50pm Transit Police officers working in Area 2 received a radio call to respond to the Fitchburg Commuter Rail station for a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple TPD units responded along with Fitchburg Fire and EMS. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: A 57 year old male, while trespassing on track 2- Main freight line, was struck by a westbound Pan Am Railways train just west of the station. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.

Transit Police detectives and representatives of the Worcester County District Attorney's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances leading to the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Juvenile arrested for Unarmed Robbery.

On April 17, 2015 at approximately 7:30am Transit Police officers working in Area 4 received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Stony Brook station for a report of an unarmed robbery. Upon arrival officers met with the victim, a  50 year old female, who informed the officers of the following: while travelling on an inbound orange line train and positioned in the seat closet to the doors (hotseat) the victim was holding her cellular telephone in her hand. As the train entered Stony Brook station and the doors opened suddenly a male forcefully grabbed the victim's cell phone and fled off of the train. Several fellow passengers/witnesses were yelling for the male to stop and a quick acting MBTA employee was able to prevent the male from escaping.

Officers arrested a 14 year old juvenile from Everett for Unarmed Robbery and transported him to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. The cellular telephone was returned to the victim.

On Monday, March 23, 2015, at 6:35 PM, the subject depicted within took possession a passenger’s wallet immediately after it was dropped while onboard an MBTA Route #1 bus.  The subject exited at Mass Ave. Station with the wallet. Shortly after, the subject fraudulently utilized the passenger’s credit card that was contained in the wallet at Andrew Square MBTA Station to purchase fare cards.

White male, 6’02”- 6’04” in height, 30-35 years of age, wearing a ball cap, a gray North Face Hooded sweatshirt, with the words “The North Face” on the hood under a black and gray North Face fleece jacket

Point of Entry Policing- JFK-Umass

Jonathan Howlett

On April 12, 2015 at approximately 9:20pm Transit Police officers working in Area 3 were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's JFK/UMass station. While there they observed a male later, identified as Jonathan Howlett, 33, of Dorchester smoking a cigarette in close proximity to a conspicuously posted "NO SMOKING" sign. Officers approached Howlet to educate him on the law regarding smoking on MBTA property. Officers subsequently discovered there was a warrant in existence for Howlett's arrest issued from Plymouth Superior Court for 2 counts of Assault & Battery on a Child with Injuries and Aggravated Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. Howlett was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Boston man arrested for assaulting elderly female.

Anthony Samuel

On April 9th, 2015 at approximately 1:15pm Transit Police officers working in Area 1 received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Chinatown station for a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival officers were directed to the inbound platform where they observed a male, later identified as Anthony Samuel, 25, of Dorchester being restrained by another passenger. Several witnesses came forward and informed the officers Samuel, while seated next to a 63 year old female on the train, suddenly and without provocation began to strike the female victim with a closed fist about her head and body. Other passengers present intervened and interrupted the assault.

Officers placed Samuel into custody for Assault & Battery on an Elderly person. (Victim transported to local area hospital by Boston EMS for head and chest pain).


 While on scene another female approached officers and informed them approximately 15 minutes prior at Ruggles MBTA station Samuel exposed his genitals to her. Samuel will be additionally charged with Open & Gross Lewdness. It is expected Samuel will be arraigned sometime today in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division.

Advance Advisory: Suffolk County DA Office

Suffolk County District Attorney's Office issues an Advanced Advisory for Friday 04/10/2015 regarding a homicide which took place at Dudley MBTA on February 28, 2013.

Opening statements are expected tomorrow morning in the trial of JAMEL BANNISTER (D.O.B. 10/7/90) of Dorchester, charged with first-degree murder for the Feb. 28, 2013, shooting death of Courtney Jackson, 26, as the victim exited a bus at Dudley station.  Bannister’s co-defendant, BRIAN COOPER (D.O.B. 1/19/88) of Mattapan, pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder; he will be sentenced next month. ADA David Fredette for the Commonwealth, defense atty John Tardif for the defendant, and Judge Richard Welch in courtroom 808 of Suffolk Superior Court.

Boston men arrested for Robbery Attempt.

On April 8th, 2015 at approximately 12:18am Transit Police officers working in Area 2 received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Community College station for a report of two males harassing patrons on board an Orange Line train. Upon arrival officers were directed to train car #1232 and boarded. Once inside officers were met by a 39 year old male victim who stated the following; while travelling on a northbound orange line train two males, later identified as Sadiq Elmi,36, of Charlestown and Ali Ali, 28, of Roxbury were harassing everyone on the train and subsequently assaulted and attempted to relieve the victim of his possession. The victim successfully warded off the attempt.

Officers approached Elmi and Ali, who were still inside the train, and noted the strong odor of alcohol about their persons. Elmi and Ali were combative with the officers and verbally threatened the reporting victim with physical harm for speaking with the police. Elmi and Ali were placed into custody for Assault to Rob-Unarmed and Intimidation of a Witness. Elmi and Ali were transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process, it is expected they will be arraigned sometime today in Charlestown District Court.

Point of Entry Policing nets Lynn man with stolen goods.

On April 2, 2015 at approximately 9:25pm Transit Police officers working in Area 3 were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's Andrew Sq. station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Jason Gachignard, 30, of Lynn who was smoking a cigarette within clearly posted No Smoking signs. Officers approached Gachignard for the purpose of issuing a citation and subsequently discovered Gachignard was in possession of over 1,000 dollars worth of stolen merchandise from Home Depot. Gachignard was placed into custody for Larceny Over 250.00 and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

MBTA employee assaulted. Forest Hills.

Dion Stickter

On April 1, 2015 at approximately 9:40pm Transit Police officers working in Area 4 received a radio call to respond to the MBTA Forest Hills station for a report of a MBTA employee who was assaulted. Upon arrival officers met with a female employee who relayed the following; after an Orange Line train arrived and all passengers exited (Forest Hills is the last stop) she noticed a male, later identified as Dion Stickter, 45, of Boston who was sleeping within the train car. The employee went over to Stickter and attempted to wake him. Immediately upon awakening Stickter struck the female employee with a closed fist multiple times about her torso area.

 Stickter, who was still on scene, was approached by the officers, he became hostile and began to use racial epithets and refused to comply with the officers requests. Stickter was placed into custody for Assault & Battery on a Public Employee and Trespassing and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. It is expected Stickter will be arraigned sometime today in West Roxbury District Court.
