East Boston man arrested for incident at Maverick Sq. MBTA

Thomas Caruso
On December 20, 2013 at approximately 5:45 pm Transit Police officers while on patrol at Maverick Sq. MBTA station were approached by an MBTA employee who informed them an unknown male just broke a window on an MBTA bus. The employee further stated the bus was filled to capacity and the unknown male was informed he could not board and would have to board the next one. The unknown male began to scream and kick at the bus windows causing a window to break and form a spider web crack throughout.

TPD Officers conducted an area search for the offending male and located a party matching the description provided on Paris Street. The MBTA employee/reporting party positively identified the male as the man who kicked and broke the bus window. The male, later identified as Thomas Carsuo, 55 of East Boston, was placed into custody for Malicious Destruction of Property.  While the officers were attempting to place Caruso into the cruiser he became belligerent towards them and kicked an officer striking him in the thigh area. Caruso was brought under control and transported back to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process officers discovered Caruso was in possession of several items that still had security anti-theft devices from Marshall's affixed to them.

Caruso will be arraigned sometime on 12/23/2013 in East Boston District Court for Malicious Destruction of Property, Assault on a Police Officer and Receiving Stolen Property.
