An Armed Robber, A cup of Joe and a Transit Police Officer

On January 5th, 2013 at approximately 5:30pm a man, later identified as Michael Wallace 35 of Boston, entered the Dunkin Donuts located on 99 Cambridge Street in Charlestown, MA. Wallace walked up to the service counter where he proceeded to remove a long metal silver colored object. He then pointed it at a female employee working behind the counter and in a threatening manner demanded all the money in the cash register. The frightened female employee slammed the cash register drawer closed and backed away from Wallace in an attempt to create distance from him. Wallace, not deterred, leaned over the counter and began pushing buttons on the register in an effort to force it ajar..........

An on duty Transit Police Officer from Area 2 looking to grab a quick cup of Java entered the very same Dunkin Donuts and interrupted Wallace's plans. The officer quickly realized what was taking place and arrested Wallace on the spot. A search of Wallace revealed the metal object he used in the commission of his crime was actually a 7 inch spoon. Wallace concealed the rounded end within his palm and brandished the elongated portion towards the female employee, who believed Wallace was actually armed with a knife.

Wallace was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking procedure, during this process Wallace was found to be in possession of a black dress sock which contained  2 women's bracelets and 4 women's necklaces. Transit Police detectives will follow up regarding the jewelry to ascertain its rightful owner. Wallace is expected to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court on Monday, January 7th, 2013 for Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
