Somerville man arrested for Unarmed Robery at MBTA Haymarket Station.

On February 1, 2020 at approximately 11AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were on patrol at the MBTA's Haymarket Station when they observed a male running towards them screaming for help. The male victim, 51, informed the officers of the following:  While standing outside the Dunkin Donuts two males wearing masks covering their faces approached and one of the males closed fisted punched him in the side of the face. The victim attempted to run away and was pursed by his attacker who was attempting to go into victim's pockets. The victim was able to flee.

Officers immediately conducted an area search and based on the victim's description located a male, later identified as Michael Coneeny, 38, of Somerville on the Congress Street side of the station. Coneeny was in possession of a mask as described by victim and admitted to the act. Coneeny was placed into custody for Attempted Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery and transported to TPD HQ for the arest booking process.
