Dorchester man flees from TPD apprehended after foot pursuit

On February 6, 2020 at approximately 5:50PM members of the Transit Police MOP Unit were in the vicinity of the North Station area when their attention was drawn a Ford Explorer being driven erratically and creating a hazard to other motorists.  Officers initiated a stop of the vehicle, at first the driver, later identified as Gustavus Beverly, 52, of Dorchester, stopped and then upon approach of officers sped off. Officers briefly pursued the vehicle however Beverly ultimately lost control and crashed into 226 Causeway Street. Beverly exited and fled on foot. Officers gave chase and apprehended Beverly on Medford Street. Beverly was taken into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process it was discovered Beverly had numerous warrants in existence for his arrest issued out of the following:

Roxbury District Court for Abuse Prevention Order Violations 3 counts, Criminal Harassment, Assault & Battery and Strangulation and Dorchester District Court for Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny Under 1,200.00, Threats to Commit a Crime, Malicious Destruction of Property and Intimidation of a Witness.
