Man from Dorchester bites another passenger while travelling on Red Line train.

Bernadino Baran-Garcia
On February 16, 2020 at approximately 1;15PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Andrew Sq. Station for a report of an assault. Upon arrival officers were met by the victims who relayed the following: While traveling southbound on a Red Line train in between Fields Corner Station and Andrew Sq. the victim, a 22 year old male, and his girlfriend, also a victim, were being verbally harassed by a male unknown to them. The male, later identified as Baran-Garcia, 26, of Dorchester then began to physically assault the victim without provocation. The victim attempted to create distance from Baran-Garcia but was unsuccessful. At one point Baran-Garcia grabbed hold of the victim's arm and bit into it. The victim's girlfriend attempted to stop the assault and was grabbed by her hair and pulled sharply by Baran-Garcia.

The officers encountered Baran-Garcia at the bottom of the escalator acting aggressively by pounding on his chest and using profanities. Officers approached and observed a 40 OZ can of beer protruding from his jacket pocket and the odor of alcohol about his person. Baran-Garcia was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. Baran-Garcia initially provided a false name to police officers.
