Haverhill man arrested for Lewdness (Suspect in 2 similiar cases)

Juan Tavarez
On August 5, 2019 at approximately 11AM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond the MBTA's Malden Center Station for a report of a man exposing himself. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim who relayed the following: While traveling on an Orange line train an unknown male took a seat directly next to the victim (Victim thought odd due to the fact the train was nearly empty). The male in possession of a newspaper used it to shield others view 9except the victim's), removed his genitals looked at the victim and committed a lewd act.

The victim exited at the next available stop (Malden Center) and the male fled and boarded a train headed in the opposite direction. Based on a description officers conducted an area search and located a male, later identified as Juan Tavarez, 41, of Haverhill at Wellington Station. Tavarez was positively identified by the victim and placed into custody for Open & Gross Lewdness.

As a result of this arrest Tavarez was identified as the suspect in 2 separate Open & Gross Lewdness cases occurring in 2018 on the Orange Line with the same modus operandi.
