On August 3, 2019 at approximately 12:14AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's State Street Station Orange Line for a person possibly struck by a subway train. Multiple Transit Police units responded along with Boston Fire and EMS. Preliminary investigation suggests the following: a male, age unknown at this time, while on the platform appeared very unsteady on his feet stumbled and fell into the right of way (pit area) and was struck by a northbound Orange Line train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.
Transit Police detectives along with the Suffolk County DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
