Reminder:Please secure your bicycles

With the arrival of spring more commuters will travel to their MBTA station of choice via bicycle. We would like to remind all of our bicyclists the importance of utilizing an anti-theft device to secure their bicycles. The video below (captured on May 7th, 2014 at the JFK-UMass station) illustrates how most thieves will take the path of least resistance, ie. an unsecured bicycle as opposed a secured bicycle. In this case, three males of an undetermined age, check all three bicycles to determine which ones are not secured. Initially the would be thief determines the two outer bikes are locked to the bicycle rack, so he removes the bike in the middle believing it is unsecured and attempts to pedal off. However the would be thief is deterred by a wheel lock which prevented the bike from being pedaled. Please secure your bicycles !
