Transit Police Awarded Re-Accreditation Status

MBTA Transit Police Department was Awarded

“Re-Accreditation” Status

Chief MacMillan & Chairman Mark Leahy
On September 12, 2013, the MBTA Transit Police Department was re-accredited from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.  This award was the Department’s 3rd re-accreditation since its initial award in October, 2004.

Under the leadership of Chief Paul S. MacMillan, the MBTA Transit Police Department was assessed in July by a team of Commission-appointed assessors.  The Assessment Team found the Department to be in compliance with all applicable standards for Accreditation. Accreditation is a self-initiated evaluation process by which police departments strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established for the profession, by the profession. These carefully selected standards reflect critical areas of police management, operations, and technical support activities.
