On July 28, 2022 at approximately 2:30PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Davis Sq. station for reports of a male attempting to steal a bicycle. Upon arrival the SP male had left the area however a diligent TPD officer based on a detailed description conducted an area search and located a male, later identified as John Kinney, 34, of Rayham in close proximity matching the description. The officer engaged Kinney in conversation relative to his alleged conduct inside the bicycle cage. It was soon discovered there were two outstanding warrants in existence for Kinney's arrest issued out of Taunton District Court for Shoplifting and Cambridge District Court for Receiving Stolen Property. Kinney was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During the booking process Kinney was found to be in possession of bolt cutters, wire snips, wrenches, a tool set and a bicycle pump.
