Trespasser struck in Gloucester

On May 7th, 2013 at approximately 2:30pm Transit Police officers from Area 2 received a radio call to respond to Gloucester MBTA Commuter rail station for a person struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police personnel responded along with Gloucester Police, Fire and EMS. TPD units on scene report the following preliminary information : a male, approximately 57 years of age, trespassing along the right of way approximately 500 yards north of Gloucester Station was struck by an inbound MBTA commuter rail train and was pronounced deceased.

Passengers on board were bused and residual delays are expected.

Transit Police detectives and the Essex District Attorney's Office are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
