South Station smoker

Transit Police/Robert Gallagher
On September 4th, 2012 at approximately 8:45am Transit Police officers assigned to Area 1 were on patrol at South Station when they observed a male near the Atlantic Avenue entrance. The male, later identified as Robert Gallagher, 35 of Roxbury, MA., was standing directly beneath a posted "No Smoking" sign smoking a cigarette. The sign issues a clear warning that smoking within the facility is a violation of Massachusetts law as defined by Chapter 272 S43A. Officers approached Gallagher for the purposes of issuing him a citation. During this time it was discovered there was an arrest warrant in existence for Gallagher, issued from Plymouth District Court for Larceny Over by Scheme. Gallagher was placed into custody for the warrant, transported to Transit Police HQ for the booking process and issued a citation for smoking.

  1. It was very irresponsible of him to smoke in a non-smoking area so he deserved it. Many people are like him, they're selfish and they don't think about the danger of second hand smoke. Smokers better switch to e liquid for safer smoking.

  2. If only he discovered e cigarette liquid that time then he won’t end up in jail. E-cigs are really helpful for smokers like him who can’t fight stick fixation.

  3. Maybe he should've just stuck to an e cig at home; he wouldn't have to worry about paying the state if ever he did so.
