Midnight Walker

Transit Police/Robert O'Neil
On September 21, 2012 at approximately 2:10 am Transit Police with the assistance of Brookline Police responded to Brookline Village Station for a report of a male cutting copper wire and piling them on the bank of the track bed. Upon arrival officers observed a male, later identified as Robert O'Neil, 43 of Medford, MA.attempting to exit the track area, however O'Neil was walking very "stiffed legged". O'Neil was walking this way for a good reason, he had a large pair of cable cutters secreted inside his pants along with a pair of work gloves.  A quick search of the adjacent area turned up a pile of  MBTA cable cut into five foot sections piled in a dark area near the track bed. Additionally, a witness came forward and informed police they observed O'Neil cutting what appeared to be cable along the track bed.

Officers placed O'Neil into custody for  Larceny Over $250, Vandilizing Railroad signals and Trespassing. O'Neil was transported to Transit Police HQ for processing and will appear sometime today in Brookline District Court.

Transit Police would like to express our gratitude to the citizen who reported the suspicious activity and the Brookline Police Department for their assistance. As always "If You See Something, Say Something ".
