Five Finger Discount.

On April 10, 2018 at approximately 3PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District were on patrol at the MBTA's South Station Commuter Rail when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Michael Garland, 31, of Nantucket. Garland was walking near Track 1 and carrying a 65 inch Samsung TV. Earlier in the day officers ejected Garland from South Station for loitering. Officers approached Garland to ascertain why he was back in South Station. Subsequent to an investigation by the officers they discovered Garland had helped himself to the television from the bus terminal area. (The TV was packaged and scheduled to be shipped to it's rightful owner.)

Garland was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process Garland was discovered to be in possession checks that did not belong to him.
