Escapee caught smoking inside T station.

Randy Thomas
On September 19, 2016 at approximately 4:30PM members of the TPD's Crime Suppression Team were on patrol at the MBTA's Mass Ave Station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as Randy Thomas, 36, of Quincy. Thomas was standing on the platform smoking from a cigarette in close proximity to several NO Smoking signs. Officers approached Thomas and requested his information in order to issue a citation. Subsequently officers discovered Thomas had recently escaped from a pre release program and had an active warrant for his arrest out of Dedham District Court for Escape from Penal Institution.

Thomas was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Thomas was also found to be in possession of a controlled narcotic of which he did not possess a prescription.
