On March 9, 2017 at approximately 2:40PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA Braintree station for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival officers were met by a male victim, 22 years of age, who informed the officers of the following: the victim had pre-arranged to meet two males (unknown to him but who answered his add posted on a popular social media site to sell his iPhone 6) at the Braintree MBTA parking garage.
As the two male suspects were "inspecting" the victim's phone they sped off in the vehicle they arrived in. The victim in an attempt to retrieve his phone held onto the vehicle and was dragged a short distance ultimately landing on the pavement sustaining abrasions about his body. The suspects made good their escape.
Subsequent to an investigation by Transit Police detectives Jeffery Diauto, 20, of Braintree and a male juvenile, 17, also of Braintree were arrested last night for the above referenced incident. Both Diauto and the male Juvenile will be charged with Assault & Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Unarmed Robbery.
