Confirmed Fatality, Brockton CR

Death Investigation
On February 18, 2016 at approximately 7:15am Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Brockton Commuter Rail station for a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police units along with Brockton Fire and EMS responded. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a male, approximate age of 75, while walking over the Middleborough Line crossing within the station was struck by an outbound commuter rail train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. Preliminary investigation suggests the crossing warning system, to includes flashing lights and horn activation, were working properly and engaged at time of incident.

There were 37 passengers on board who were transferred to a Brockton Area Transit bus.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the incident is under active investigation by Transit Police detectives along with representatives from the Plymouth County DA's Office. Foul play is NOT suspected.
