Boston man assault MBTA bus operator.

Jorge Diaz-Vasquez
On April 24, 2016 at approximately 6:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to Warren and Moreland Street's Roxbury for a report of an MBTA bus operator who was assaulted. Upon arrival officers met with the bus operator as well as independent witnesses. Officers ascertained the following information: a male, later identified as Jorge Diaz-Vasquez, 44, of Boston boarded an MBTA bus but refused to pay his fare. The operator explained to Diaz-Vasquez he must pay his fare or exit the bus. Diaz-Vasquez stepped off the bus and spat upon the bus operator striking her and then fled the area.

Shortly thereafter Transit Police Officers while at Dudley MBTA station observed Diaz-Vasquez. As Officers approached Diaz-Vasquez he pushed a shopping carriage at the officers and fled. Officers gave chase and after a lengthy pursuit apprehended Diaz-Vasquez and placed him into custody for various assault charges. During the booking process Diaz-Vasquez provided a false name, officers subsequently discovered his true identity which revealed several warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Charlestown District Court for violation of the Commonwealth's Drug Laws.
