On February 4, 2022 at approximately 5:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Andrew Sq. station for a report of an assault. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a 50 year old male, who relayed the following to officers. While traveling on a Red Line train between Broadway and Andrew station a male, later identified as Jason Sylvia, 37, of Boston began to lean into the victim. The victim asked Sylvia to stop leaning on him and Sylvia responded by producing a knife and threatening to stab the victim. The victim called TPD and requested assistance. According to the victim when Sylvia heard him on the phone with TPD Sylvia fled off the train at Andrew Sq. station.

Based on a detailed description officers conducted an area search and located Sylvia near Andrew station on Southampton Street. The victim positively identified Sylvia as his assailant and officers removed two knives from his person. Sylvia was placed into custody for Assault by means of a dangerous weapon/Knife and transported him to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process it was discovered there was an outstanding felony warrant issued out of South Boston District Court for Breaking & Entering for Sylvia's arrest.
