On January 22, 2019 at approximately 6:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Ashmont Station for a report of a man beating his dog.  Upon arrival officers were met by witnesses who pointed out a male, later identified as Michael Webb, 26, of Natick. Witnesses informed the officers while on the southbound platform Webb used his dog's leash and began to viciously whip and beat the animal about it's body.

As officers approached Webb, who is approximately 6'7 and 300lbs, he suggested the officers needed more than two officers to take him. Additional officers responded and Webb was placed into custody for Cruelty to Animals and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process it was discovered there was an warrant in existence for Webb's arrest issued out of Boston Municpal Court for Cruelty to Animals.

City of Boston Animal Control responded and took custody of Coco, a mixed breed dog.
