On April 13, 2017 at approximately 5:50PM members of the Transit Police Crime Suppression Team were at the MBTA's Maverick Station conducting Point of Entry Policing when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Thomas Mignanelli, 34, of Chelsea who fare evaded by "piggybacking" in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Mignanelli for the purpose of issuing a citation. Mignanelli furnished a false name and other personal identifiers to the officers.
Subsequently officers were able to ascertain his true identity and discovered Mignanelli had an extraditable warrant issued from the State of New Hampshire for Violation of Probation and a warrant for his arrest issued by Roxbury District Court for Possession of a Controlled Substance to wit Class B. Mignanelli was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
