Vehicle struck by CR train in Braintree.

Accident Investigation
On December 5, 2014 at approximately 1:05pm Transit Police officers working in Area 3 received a radio call to respond to Mahar Boulevard Railroad Crossing in Braintree for a report of a motor vehicle struck by an MBTA Commuter Rail train. Upon arrival officers ascertained the following preliminary information: a 37 year old female, operating a 2012 Ford Fusion, and her 15 year old male passenger were stopped at the grade crossing when they were struck from behind by a 2007 Acura being operated by a 42 year old female from Braintree. This collision forced the Ford Fusion forward onto the track area and partially onto the right of way. At this time both passengers exited from the vehicle and proceeded a safe distance away. Shortly thereafter the commuter rail train struck the vehicle causing substantial front end damage.

A preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the Acura may have experienced solar glare which impeded their vision hence striking the stationary Ford Fusion.

All parties involved did NOT report any injuries and the incident is still under investigation.
