Worcester man arrested for Attempted Robbery at Andrew Sq. MBTA

On October 7, 2014 at approximately 8:50pm Transit Police officers working in Area 3 received a radio call to respond to Andrew Sq. MBTA station for a report of an attempted robbery. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a 47 year old male resident of Boston, who relayed the following information; the victim was walking through the busway and speaking on his cellular telephone when suddenly a male, later identified as Miguel Morales, 21 of Worcester grabbed the victim and attempted to forcefully remove the cellular phone from his hands. The victim and Morales struggled for control of the phone, eventually the victim was able to overcome Morales and regain possession of his cellular phone. At this time Morales fled onto Southampton Street towards the South Bay Mall and the victim contacted 911.

Morales was stopped with the assistance of the Boston Police and placed into custody, transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. It is expected Morales will be arraigned sometime today in South Boston District Court for Assault to Rob (Unarmed).
