Revere man sets off Fire Alarm to retrieve cell phone

Marwin Maurin
On October 20, 2014 at approximately 2:17am Transit Police officers received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's South Station for an individual who had allegedly pulled/set off the fire alarm. Upon arrival officers observed Boston Fire Department personnel in the process of shutting off the fire alarm box on the corner of Summer and Atlantic Street's. At this time one of the Boston Fire Fighters pointed out a male, later identified as Marwin Maurin, 22, of Revere who was standing by the entrance to the Red Line (which was closed/locked at this time) and informed the officer Maurin had intentionally pulled the fire alarm.

Officers approached Maurin to ascertain what the issue was. Maurin informed the officers he set off the fire alarm because he left his cellular phone inside the station.  Maurin was placed into custody for Disorderly Conduct and False Fire Alarm and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process officers discovered Maurin was in possession of what the officers believed to be Methamphetamines. Maurin to be additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Class B Substance. It is expected Maurin will be arriagned sometime today in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division.
