On October 6th, 2012 at approximately 4:55 PM Transit Police Officers assigned to Area 2 were dispatched to Wellington Station for a report of a male who was masturbating on a train. Upon arrival officers observed a male, later identified as William Jones, 37 of Boston,MA., who matched the description, officers called out to Jones and he immediately took off running. Officers caught up to Jones and stopped him to further investigate. A victim came forward and positively identified Jones as the male who was manipulating himself on the train from approximately Oak Grove until Wellington Station. Officers placed Jones under arrest for Lewd, Wanton and Lascivious Conduct and transported him to Transit Police HQ for processing. Jones will appear in court sometime today.
On October 9th, 2012 at approximately 12:50 am Transit Police Officers assigned to Area 3 received a radio call for a male breaking into the Inspector's Booth at Wollaston Station. Officers responded to the area along with Quincy Police and stopped a male, later identified as Michael O'Reagan, 21 of Quincy MA., who was running away from the scene and fit the description provided. An MBTA employee/witness to the crime postively identified O'Reagan as the individual responsible for breaking into the booth and stealing his portable two way work radio. O'Reagan was placed into custody for Breaking and Entering and Larceny and Transported to TPD HQ for processing. O'Reagan will appear in Quincy District Court sometime today.

Level 3 Sex Offender sells Drugs to UC
Transit Police proactively target drug related activity on the MBTA.
On October 5th, 2012 at approximately 9:30 am Transit Police detectives and officers conducted an undercover operation at Haymarket Station targeting drug sales and its related activity. While there an UC Transit Police Detective had occasion to engage in conversation with a male, later identified as Eddy Kent, 55 of Chelsea, MA.Kent offered to sell the UC either "Klonopins" or "Gabapentins", both are a Controlled Substance as defined by MGL and are only available via a legal prescription. Ultimately Kent did in fact sell the UC "Klonopins". After the transaction was complete Kent was placed under arrest for Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession w/Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Kent was transported to TPD HQ, during the booking process it was discovered Kent is a Registered Level 3 Sex Offender.(http://www.tpdnews411.com/2012/10/sex-offender-information.html). Kent will appear in Boston Municipal Court on Monday.
Later that same evening at approximately 8:45 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 3 were at Savin Hill MBTA station in Dorchester, MA to target drug related activity. While there they observed a male, later identified as George MacMasters, 32 of Quincy, MA. at the end of the platform behaving suspiciously. Officers continued to observe MacMasters who ultimately removed cocaine from his jacket and began to prepare it for ingestion. Officers approached MacMasters and recovered the cocaine, in the process MacMasters tossed a black case into the track area. The black case contained heroin and "Klonopins". MacMasters admitted he was going to "Shoot" the cocaine into his body via a hypodermic syringe. MacMasters was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance Class A, B and C he was Transported to TPD HQ for processing. MacMasters will appear in Dorchester District Court on Monday.
The Transit Police will continue to take a proactive approach to suppressing drug related activity on the MBTA. Drug related activity harms the quality of life for those who utilize and work on the MBTA and invites other criminal behavior.

What was he thinking ?
On Thursday October 4th, 2012 at approximately 12:30pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 3 were at Andrew Sq. MBTA station conducting fare evasion enforcement. While there they had ocassion to observe a male, later identified as Shane Sullivan, 22 of Marshfield MA., enter through the fare gates without paying. Officers approached Sullivan for the purpose of issuing him a citation. At first Sullivan furnished a name other then his own, he had a good reason to do this for he knew there were multiple warrants out for his arrest. The officers however did not believe Sullivan and investigated further, which revealed a Default warrant issued from Quincy District Court for 3 counts of Larceny, 6 counts of Uttering a false check and 6 counts of forgery by check. Another warrant issued from Plymouth District Court for 1 count of Larceny and 1 count of Uttering a false check and Forgery. Yet another warrant this one issued from Boston Municipal Court for Shoplifting. Wait there's more ! Another warrant issued from Boston Municipal Court for Shoplifting by Asportation. That's a grand total of 4 Warrants and 20 separate counts/charges . Needless to say Sullivan was placed into custody for the warrants transported to Transit Police HQ and issued a citation for fare evasion.

Sex Offender Information
Recently we have blogged about arrests of individuals who committed intolerable acts of sexual assaults and/or individuals who were arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in violation of MGL CH.6 Section 178H. As a result, we have received numerous inquiries from our followers regarding who must register as a sex offender, the difference in classification levels and what rights does a private citizen have to know who is registered within their community. Below you will find a description of the different levels of classification and other information we hope you find useful and answers your questions. The Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board (SORB) is the public safety agency responsible for classifying convicted sex offenders according to dangerousness and risk to re-offend. As part of the classification process, a victim of a convicted sex offender is entitled to submit a written victim impact statement to the SORB. If you were the victim of a sex offense, or you are the parent/guardian of a child victim or the guardian of an adult victim of a sex offense that resulted in a conviction and have any questions or concerns you should contact SORB at (978) 740-6440 or visit their website. Information on Level 1 offenders will not be available to the public. Neither the police nor the Board have authority to disseminate information to the general public identifying a Level 1 offender. Information identifying Level 1 offenders may only be given to the Department of Correction, any county correctional facility, the Department of Youth Services, the Department of Social Services, the parole Board, the Department of Probation and the Department of Mental Health, all city and town police departments and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for law enforcement purposes.
Level 2 Sex Offenders
Where the Board determines that the risk of re-offense is moderate and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information, it shall give a Level 2 designation to the sex offender.
The public shall have access to the information regarding a Level 2 offender through the Local Police Department and through the Sex Offender Registry Board.
Level 3 Sex Offenders
Where the Board determines that the risk of re-offense is high and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a substantial public safety interest is served by active dissemination, it shall give a Level 3 designation to the sex offender.

Man arrested for breaking into car at Readville
On September 29th, 2012 at approximately 10:30 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 4 were dispatched to the Readville Commuter Rail Station (Hyde Park) parking lot for a report of two males attempting to break into cars. Upon arrival officers met with the reporting party, a concerned citizen, who observed the males break into a vehicle and enter it several times. As the witness was providing officers with a description of the suspects he noticed one of them walking on Milton Street at Neponset Valley Parkway and exclaimed "That's the guy !". Officers quickly stopped the suspect male to further investigate. The concerned citizen/witness positively identified the male, later ID'd as Ishael Jean, 21 of Hyde Park, MA., as one the suspects they observed breaking into the vehicle. Jean was placed under arrest for Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehilce with Intent to Commit a Felony and Malicious Damage to Property Over 250.00 and transported to Transit Police HQ for processing. Jean will be arraigned sometime today in West Roxbury District Court. The second suspect has not been identified at this time.
