Dorchester man arrested for Unarmed Robbery-Ashmont Station

On January 6, 2021 at approximately 9:25PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District were on patrol at the MBTA's Ashmont Station when their attention was drawn to a male running up the escalator yelling he was robbed. Officers immediately approached the male and he informed the officers of the following: while riding on a Red Line train from JFK to Ashmont he was attempting to sell bags of frozen shrimp for 10 dollars. One of the passengers whom the victim believed may be a potential customer stated, words to the effect, "I'll take all of them" and proceeded to closed fisted punch the victim in the face and attempt to relieve the victim of his frozen bags of shrimp. The victim pointed out the offending male to the officers who was still located inside the station.

Officers approached the male, later identified as Eduardo Castro, 22, of Dorchester. Castro furnished the officers with a false name and then fled. Officers pursued Castro and were ultimately able to place him into custody. Castro was transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process for the following charges: Attempted Unarmed Robbery and Resisting arrest.
