On August 16, 2018 at approximately 10:50AM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Downtown Crossing Orange Line platform for a report of a minor who was Indecently Assaulted. Multiple TPD units responded and quickly located the offending male and witnesses. Based on information obtained on scene the following occurred: A male, later identified as Michael Brooks, 44, of Revere while travelling on an outbound Orange Line car began to stare at a female under the age of 14 in such a way as to make another male passenger suspicious and uncomfortable. As the train stopped at Downtown Crossing Brooks followed behind the minor child as she and her mother were exiting and Indecently Assaulted her.
The above referenced male passenger (identified) witnessed what occurred and stopped Brooks on the platform and would not allow him to leave the area until police arrived.

Prior to placing Brooks into custody he made incriminating statements to officers.
