On February 5, 2018 at approximately 7:17PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Broadway Station for a report of an assault. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a 28 year old female, who relayed the following : while ascending up the escalator at Broadway Station she was indecently assaulted from behind by an unknown male. The victim further stated a male who witnessed the assault intervened and pulled the assailant away from her. Officers then spoke with the male witness who pointed out Jose Nunez, 28, of Somerville as the offending party.
Officers approached Nunez and placed him into custody. According to the arresting officers Nunez admitted to the assault and stated "What's the big deal.... I wanted to do it". Nunez was transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.
