On December 22, 2015 at approximately 8:30pm Transit Police officers conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's South Station observed a male, later identified as
John Elliot, 28, of Norwood smoking from a cigarette with a "NO SMOKING" sign directly behind him. Officers approached Elliot and subsequently discovered there were several warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Wrentham District Court for OUI-Drugs, Leaving the scene of personal injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Elliot was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
