Scituate man attempts to strangle Transit Police officer.

Jonathan Quigley
On March 24, 2020 at approximately 5:25PM a Transit Police officer assigned to the Central District was on patrol at the MBTA's South Station commuter rail when he was approached by a reporting party. The reporting party stated she just witnessed a male, later identified as Jonathan Quigley, 32, of Scituate throw a bottle through a large window pane shattering it inside South Station. The reporting party then pointed out Quigley to the officer who at this time was walking towards Track 1. The officer yelled out to Quigley several times but Quigley refused to stop. The officer caught up to Quigley and attempted to investigate. Quigley immediately responded with anger and attempted to strike the officer in the head. The officer avoided the strike and Quigley then grabbed the officer by his throat and began to strangle him. A violent struggle ensued where the officer was able to fend off his attacker and additional officers responded to assist.

Quigley was placed into custody for Strangulation, Resisting Arrest and Malicious Destruction of Property and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.
