Man attempts to steal phone-Arrested

On May 30, 2013 at approximately 7:40pm Transit Police officers from Area 1 received a radio call to respond to MBTA Tufts Medical Center station for a report of a robbery in progress. Upon arrival officers located a female victim who furnished the following information: while inside the station she was set upon from behind by a male who had grabbed her by the shoulders and demanded she turn over her cellular telephone. The victim refused, the male then forcefully attempted to rip the victim's cell phone from her hands. A struggle ensued which caused the victim to fall down a set of stairs resulting in minor abrasions to her facial area. The victim was able to maintain possession of her phone. The male attacker fled the station running out onto Washington Street.

Multiple Transit Police units conducted an area search and located a male subject, fitting the clothing and physical characteristics provided by the victim, near the corner of Tremont and Boylston Street. The victim positively identified the male, Joaquin Armaiz, 43 of Boston as her attacker. Armaiz was placed under arrest and transported to Transit Police HQ for the booking process. Armaiz is expected to be arraigned sometime today in Boston Municipal Court for Assault to Rob-Unarmed.

Man wanted for illegal firearm possession arrested by TPD

On May 28, 2013 at approximately 5:30pm Transit Police officers from Area 1 were on patrol at MBTA Park Street station (Winter Street entrance gate area) when they had occasion to observe a male later identified as Stevie Jaimon, 30 of Boston  enter through the fare gates without paying. Jaimon "piggybacked" in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Jaimon for the purposes of issuing a fare evasion citation, however officers soon discovered Jaimon was wanted (Boston Municipal Court) for illegal possession of a firearm. Additionally Jaimon also had warrants for his arrest issued from Cambridge District Court for operating a vehcile without a license and Boston Municipal Court for Possession of a Controlled Class D Substance with the Intent to Distribute. Jaimon was taken into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process and issued a citation for fare evasion.

On Monday, May 20, 2013, at approximately 9:45 AM, the male subject depicted below arrived at the Holland Street side of Davis MBTA Station on a bicycle. He was observed loitering near the bicycle racks for approximately 30 minutes, before placing his bicycle next to another bicycle, which he subsequently stole, leaving the original bicycle behind.

Update: Open & Gross incident on Red Line Arrest made *****

On May 23, 2013 Transit Police detectives sought the public's help in identifying a male who was wanted in relation to an Open & Gross incident that occurred on a Red Line train. (see posting here)
Shortly after the posting TPD received several tips regarding the identity of the male subject depicted. Subsequent to an investigation Transit Police detectives arrested Thomas Higgins, 21 of Quincy at Transit Police HQ. Higgins is expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court for Open & Gross Conduct tomorrow.

Hot Dog man !!

Transit Police/Dana Reis

On May 24, 2013 at approximately 5am Transit Police officers from Area 4 received a radio call to respond to Forest Hills MBTA station for a suspicious male. Upon arrival officers were met by an observant MBTA employee who informed the officers a male, later identified as Dana Reis, 56 of Medford, appeared to be setting up/opening a hot dog stand in the lobby of the station that did not belong to him.. The T employee went on to state they have never seen Reis before and the vendor who usually works at the stand does not arrive til later in the morning. Officers engaged Reis in conversation who stated he was "filling in for his friend". However Reis could not provide a contact number for his friend nor could he produce a permit authorizing him to sell hot dogs at Forest Hills. Subsequently officers discovered there was several warrants in existence for Reis' arrest issued from Worcester District Court (Larceny & Defrauding an Innkeeper) and Boston Municipal Court (for numerous drug violations). Reis was placed into custody for the warrants and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

 On Sunday, 05/19/13, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the male subject depicted below, exposed himself, while making lewd comments to the passengers onboard a Red Line train between North Quincy MBTA Station and Wollaston MBTA Station.

Lexington Man sells drugs to a UC

On May 21, 2013 Transit Police detectives working in a undercover (UC) capacity were at Quincy Center MBTA station to address issues of drug activity. While there a male, later identified as Scott McDevitt, 22 of Lexington, did sell a Controlled Class B substance- Suboxone- to a UC Transit Police detective. In addition to the drugs McDevitt sold he was in possession of additional Suboxone also for sale. McDevitt was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Officers discovered McDevitt was also in possession of marijuana, less then an ounce, which he had stored in a cigarette box. McDevitt is expected to be arraigned today in Quincy District Court for Distribution of a Controlled Class B substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Class B substance.
