TPD Sergeants receive specialized training.

On September 28th, 2012 newly promoted Transit Police Sergeants Benjamin Carrasco,  John Donahue, Paul Petrucelli and Robert Vitale successfully completed 2 weeks of intense specialized training for First Line Supervisor's at Roger Williams University.  All Transit Police supervisory personnel attend the course upon being promoted, this course provides the new supervisor with tools they will utilize to best serve officers who work with them, the Department as a whole and most importantly the public.

Transit Police/Marc Sico

On March 13th, 2011 in the early morning hours Transit Police officers assigned to Area 4 were patrolling through Back Bay MBTA station when their attention was drawn to 3 males who were viciously attacking a homeless male victim. The male assailants were punching and kicking the victim, upon seeing the police they immediately fled out of the station onto Darthmouth Street. As officers were rendering aid to the victim he informed them he was sleeping when suddenly the assailants were punching and kicking him in the face to wake him up. Victim stated he had no prior conflict with his attackers and did not understand why they attacked him. Apparently, viciously attacking a defenseless sleeping male was not enough for the group. Shortly after the assault in Back Bay station Boston Police responded to the corner of Darthmouth and St. James Street to meet two victims who were also viciously assaulted in an unprovoked attacked. The two victims also suffered the onslaught of punches and kicks about their body. Transit and Boston Police conducted a coordinated area search for the assailants, Transit Police officers observed two males fitting the description on Boylston Street and stopped them to further investigate. Both males were positively identified by the victims as their attackers. Transit Police arrested both males, later identifed as Marc Sico, 21 of Medford,MA and James Marino, 21 also of Medford,MA. 

Sico subsequently failed to appear for his court appearances and Boston Municipal Court issued a warrant for his arrest. This morning, September 28th, 2012 members of the Transit Police Department arrested Sico at his residence in Medford,Ma. Sico will appear before a Judge in Boston Municipal Court sometime this afternoon.

Man with MBTA warrant fare evades, gets arrested

Transit Police/Tuarek Dugha

On September 25th, 2012 at approximately 5:30 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 3 were conducting fare evasion enforcement at Quincy Center MBTA station. While there their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Taurek Dugha, 31 of Quincy, MA. Dugha entered the paid area of the station without paying, he "piggybacked" in behind a paying customer. This is the same Tuarek Dugha who was arrested by Transit Police on 08/14/2012 for distribution of marijuana at Quincy Center station (http://www.tpdnews411.com/2012/08/select-transit-police-24-hr-activity.html). Dugha posted bail on that arrest with the promise to appear in Quincy District Court the following morning (08/15/2012) but he failed to show up. Subsequently a default warrant was issued for Dugha by Quincy District Court for Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. Officers placed Dugha into custody for the outstanding MBTA warrants and transported him to Transit Police HQ. Dugha will appear in Quincy District Court sometime today. He was also issued a citation for fare evasion.

Transit Police/Robert Kyller

Also at Quincy Center, approximately one hour after the above incident Transit Police officers observed another male, later identified as Robert Kyller, 34 of Braintree, MA. enter the paid area without paying by "piggybacking" in behind a paying patron. Officers stopped Kyller for the purposes of issuing a citation and discovered there was 3 outstanding warrants in existence for Kyller's arrest issued from Quincy District Court for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws. Kyller was placed into custody for the warrants and transported to Transit Police HQ for processing. Kyller was also issued a citation for fare evasion and will appear in Quincy District Court sometime today.

"See something Say Something" results in Sex offender Arrest

Transit Police/Vincent Lucas

On September 24th, 2012 at approximately 6:50 am at Forest Hills station a concerned citizen, who followed the MBTA's request of  "If You See Something Say Something ",  informed a Transit Police officer who was on patrol, they witnessed a man taking pictures of  " kids on the train ". The concerned citizen then pointed out the male, later identified as Vincent Lucas, 49 of Lowell , MA. Transit Police approached Lucas and engaged him in conversation, Lucas offered an explanation he had just received a new phone and was "playing around with it ". A subsequent investigation discovered Lucas had failed to register as a sex offender. Lucas was placed under arrest and transported to Transit Police HQ to be processed.

This is yet another example of the importance of partnership between the Transit Police and our MBTA community. As always "If You See Something Say Something".

On September 6th, 2012 we wrote about Robert Gallagher who was smoking a cigarette directly under a conspicuously posted  "No Smoking " sign at South Station, subsequently Gallagher was arrested for an outstanding warrant and issued a citation for smoking. Transit Police/William Curtain

On September 23rd, 2012 at approximately 10:30 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 3 were on patrol at Quincy Adams MBTA station when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as William Curtain, 26 of Boston, MA. Curtain was seated on a bench near the entrance to the station and smoking from a cigarette. Directly above Curtain was a posted "NO SMOKING" sign, additionally there were several other posted "No Smoking" signs within view as well. Officers approached Curtain for the purposes of issuing him a citation and subsequently discovered there were three outstanding default warrants in existence for Curtain's arrest. Two of the warrants were issued from Brockton District Court for Shoplifting and the third warrant was issued from Plymouth District Court also for Shoplifting. Curtain was placed into custody for the warrants and transported to Transit Police HQ for processing. Curtain was also issued a citation for smoking. Curtain was transported to Brockton District Court this morning and will eventually be brought over to Plymouth Court as well.

Transit Police/Nicholai Dandurant

On September 21st, 2012 at approximately 5:50 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 1 were on patrol at the South Station bus terminal when they were approached by a female victim. The victim informed the officers after she was engaged in brief conversation with a male, unknown to her, she noticed that her wallet was missing. The victim described the male as having large "loops" through his earlobes. One of the observant officers recalled seeing a person fit that description approximately 20 minutes prior. The officers made their way to the male suspect's last known location, just outside the bus terminal entrance. Sure enough the male, later identified as Nicholai Dandurdant, 23 of Hooksett, NH., was seated on a wall just outside the terminal entrance. Officers approached Dandurant and asked if he had just spoken with a female, Dandurant immediately stated "yes" and made reference to knowing her wallet was missing and wanting to return it. Indeed Dandurant was in possession of the victim's wallet containing her cash and ID's. The sudden wave of remorse displayed by Dandurant coincidentally happened when Transit Police officers appeared in his life.

Dandurant was placed into custody for Larceny from the Person and transported to Transit Police HQ for the booking process. Dandurant will appear in Boston Municipal Court on Monday morning (09/24/2012) for his arraignment.
