Statement regarding NYC attack.

The MBTA Transit Police continue to have a multi-layered approach to safeguard the transit system and have appreciated the cooperation of the public in reporting suspicious items.  Our thoughts are with the victims in New York and their families as we all condemn this senseless act of violence.

Lynn man arrested for threatening T operator w/firearm

On October 27, 2017 at approximately 7:50PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the vicinity of Squire Road near the Revere Movie Cinema for a disturbance on board an MBTA bus. Upon arrival officers were met by the victims, an MBTA bus operator and a female passenger as well as several witnesses. The officers received the following information: a male while traveling on a Route 426 MBTA bus was threatening a female passenger for unknown reasons. The T operator observing what was taking place requested T police assistance and pulled the bus over. When the bus came to a complete stop the offending male stood up from his seat pulled his shirt up and displayed a firearm. As he did so he threatened to kill the MBTA bus operator as well as the female passenger. The offending male then exited the bus and fled in the direction of the movie cinema. TPD officers conducted an area search and located a male matching the description provided within the property of the cinema. The male, later identified as Hakeem Ricker, 20, of Lynn was positively identified by the victims as the offending male.

Revere Police also responded to assist the TPD. A Revere Police K9 Unit located a loaded firearm in close proximity to Ricker hidden in some gravel. Ricker was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Ricker will be charged with Assault by means of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

The subject depicted within is wanted for questioning relative to a Bicycle Larceny at Davis Square MBTA Station on Friday, September 22, 2017, at approximately 3:30 PM.

Tips from MBTA community lead to arrest.

On October 24, 2017 we issued a photograph depicting a male subject of interest in an Open & Gross Investigation (see posting here). Subsequent to tips received from members of our MBTA community Transit Police detectives on 10/24/2017 arrested Albert Williams, 56, of Dorchester in the vicinity of 120 Cambridge Street, Boston. Williams was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Williams was also found to be in possession of what the officers believed to be crack cocaine.

The subject depicted within is wanted for questioning relative to an Open & Gross Lewdness onboard a northbound Red Line train between Downtown Crossing Station and Charles/MGH Station on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at approximately 9:35 AM.  After the victim expressed outrage the subject responded "what's your problem. You're not good enough for me to expose myself to".

Level 3 Sex Offender Arrested for Lewd Act while MBTA Red Line Train.

On October 14, 2017 Transit Police were alerted to a video a concerned passenger posted on Facebook depicting a male engaged in a lewd and lascivious act that took place on the MBTA's Red Line train on October 13th, 2017. The Transit Police Department immediately began an investigation.

Subsequent to that investigation TPD Detectives identified Anthony Sansone, 52, of Boston as the male in the video. Sansone, a registered Level 3 Sex Offender, was arrested early this morning (10/19/2017) for Open & Gross Lewdness and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

 

The Transit Police would like to give a heart felt thanks to the concerned citizen who involved herself and brought this to our attention.  Superintendent Sullivan personally called and spoke with her expressing gratitude on behalf of the Department.
