Eagle eyed TPD Officer nabs wanted individual for Civil Rights Violations

On July 14, 2017 we posted photographs of a person of interest relative to a Civil Rights Violation and Malicious Destruction investigation. (see posting here) .

Ilirian Ziu

On July 31, 2017 at approximately 5:15PM an observant Transit Police officer recognized the individual from the photographs walking through the MBTA's Back Bay station. The officer approached the male, later identified as Ilirian Ziu, 50, of East Boston, confirmed his identity with the photograph and placed Ziu into custody for Civil Rights Violations and Malicious Destruction of Property.

Ziu was transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Man w/replica firearm arrested on a warrant

On July 30, 2017 at approximately 1:15PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District were on patrol at the MBTA's Forest Hills station when they received a radio call to respond to the lower bus way for a report of a man with a gun. Upon arrival officers observed a male fitting the description enter onto an MBTA bus. Officers boarded and approached the male, later identified as Fernando Villalona, 20, of Roxbury and immediately observed what they believed to be a firearm in the rear waistline of Villalona. Officers discovered the firearm was a replica and there was a warrant for Villona's arrest issued from West Roxbury District Court for Trespassing.


 Villalona was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Train vs. vehicle Abington.

Death Investigation

On July 25, 2017 at approximately 8:20PM Transit Police responded to 236 North Street in Abington for an accident involving an MBTA Commuter Rail train and a vehicle. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: at the North Street Crossing an inbound MBTA Commuter Rail train with 10 passengers on board struck a pick up truck with a single occupant. The driver of the vehicle, a male approximate age of 78, has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. No other injuries reported.

Transit Police detectives along representatives of the Plymouth County DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

Man wanted for Fraud draws attention to himself in Back Bay

Kevin Campbell

On July 24, 2017 at approximately 12PM Transit Police assigned to the Central District were on patrol at the MBTA's Back Bay Station when an officer's attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Kevin Campbell, 48, of Dorchester. Campbell was consuming vodka while loitering in the lobby area. The officer approached Campbell and subsequently discovered there warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Defrauding a Restaurant, Defrauding an Innkeeper and Threats to Commit a Crime. Campbell was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Serial bicycle thief caught on camera. Arrested

Angel Ortiz

On July 19, 2017 at approximately 3:23PM as part of the TPD's aggressive anti-bike theft strategy officers were monitoring our public safety cameras system at the MBTA's Davis Sq. station. In conjunction there were several officers in the area. At this time a male, later identified as Angel Ortiz, 45, of Boston stole a mountain bike from the Elm Street side of the station. The officer monitoring gave a detailed description of Ortiz to the officers in the area.  As Ortiz peddled out of the station and he was quickly stopped and placed into custody. Ortiz was transported to the Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
