Fatality in Ashland. Trespasser struck.

Death Investigation 

On February 27, 2017 at approximately 10:20PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA Commuter Rail stop in Ashland for a report of a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police units along with Ashland Fire and EMS responded. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a male, approximate age of 17, while trespassing on track 2 in the vicinity of the Fountain Street Overpass was struck by an inbound Worcester Line train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. Transit Police detectives along with representatives from the Middlesex DA's Office are investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. No further information will be released at this time.

Point of Entry Policing results in Firearm arrest.

On February 22, 2017 at approximately 7pm members of the Transit Police Crime Suppression Team were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's Mass. Ave station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male juvenile, 17, of Quincy who entered through the fare gates without paying his fare. Officers approached the male juvenile for the purposes of issuing a citation. Based on the juvenile's behavior and suspicious movements a further inquiry was conducted which revealed the juvenile was in possession of a .22 caliber semi automatic handgun with 7 rounds in the magazine and one round chambered.

The juvenile male was placed into custody for Illegal Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Based on tips from our MBTA community Xavier Galatis, 24, of Medford was placed into custody at his residence by Transit Police Detectives. Galatis will face criminal charges of Intimidation of a Witness, Annoying & Accosting a Person of the Opposite Sex and Assault & Battery 2 counts.

The subject depicted accosted a family and made harsh sexual comments directed at a nine year old child female.

Quincy man arrested for Indecent Assault at Braintree station

On February 18, 2017 at approximately 9:55pm Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Braintree station for a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, a 24 year old female, who informed them of the following; while waiting on the bus platform she bent over to retrieve an item she had dropped. Suddenly a male, later identified as Marc Dicarli, 40, of Quincy came behind her and indecently assaulted her. The victim tried her best to push the suspect away. The suspect ceased his behavior temporarily and walked away however he returned to the victim's location and physically assaulted her again. The victim attempted to defend herself and eventually police responded.

Dicarli, still on scene, was placed into custody for Indecent Assault & Battery and Assault & Battery  and was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Confirmed Fatality, Brockton CR

Death Investigation

On February 18, 2016 at approximately 7:15am Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Brockton Commuter Rail station for a person possibly struck by a train. Multiple Transit Police units along with Brockton Fire and EMS responded. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a male, approximate age of 75, while walking over the Middleborough Line crossing within the station was struck by an outbound commuter rail train. The male has been pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained. Preliminary investigation suggests the crossing warning system, to includes flashing lights and horn activation, were working properly and engaged at time of incident.

There were 37 passengers on board who were transferred to a Brockton Area Transit bus.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the incident is under active investigation by Transit Police detectives along with representatives from the Plymouth County DA's Office. Foul play is NOT suspected.

The subject depicted within is wanted for questioning only relative to Malicious Destruction of Property at Malden Center MBTA Station on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at approximately 9:14 AM. Investigation suggests the depicted male punched out a Orange Line train window as it departed the station.
