On October 18th, 2012 at approximately 10 PM Transit Police officers assigned to Area 2 were dispatched to the area of Ocean Ave and Broadway Street in Salem,MA for a possible pedestrian struck by an MBTA commuter rail train. Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: an eastbound Newburyport MBTA commuter rail train struck a white male approximately 18 to 20 years of age on Track 1. The victim was transported to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

24 hr Acitivty-TPD
On October 17th, 2012 at approximately 11:40 am Transit Police officers assigned to Area 3 were on patrol in the busway of MBTA Ashmont station when they were approached by a concerned citizen who reported a young male was in the process of being robbed on nearby Bailey Street. Officers immediately began to make their way in that direction, upon arriving in the area on Bailey Street officers observed a young male on the ground and several males standing over him. As the officers got closer the males standing over the victim all fled. Officers pursued and were able to stop one of the males to further investigate. According to the victim while walking on Bailey Street in Dorchester with his motorized bicycle he was surrounded by approximately 4 males, one of the males displayed a firearm and informed the victim he was being relieved of his motorized bicycle. The victim positively identified the male officers had stopped as the one who displayed the firearm and demanded his bicycle. Officers placed the male, a juvenile, into custody for Armed Robbery to wit Gun and transported him to Transit Police HQ. An area search was conducted for the other assailants and the weapon used but officers were unable to locate them/weapon. Detectives will continue to investigate the incident. This is yet another great example of "If You See Something Say Something". We commend the witness in this case for coming forward !

Upon arrival in the area of 700 Albany Street officers located the bus and victim/MBTA operator who informed the officers that while he was operating the bus down Albany Street a male passenger demanded he be let off the bus. The operator refused because it was not an authorized bus stop, the male responded by punching the victim/operator in the side of the head, pushing the emergency window exit (located on the front right side of bus), jumping out of the window and fleeing. Boston EMS responded and rendered on scene aid to the victim/operator. Transit Police officers conducted an area search for the assailant but were unable to locate him. Transit Police Detectives will conduct a follow up investigation into the incident.

Train Pedestrian Fatality-Hyde Park 10-17
On October 17th, 2012 at approximately 9:50 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 4 were dispatched to the area of 735 Hyde Park Avenue, Hyde Park to investigate a possible pedestrian struck by a MBTA commuter rail train. Transit Police detectives on scene report the following preliminary information: a white male, approximately in his 20's was struck by an Eastbound Franklin Line MBTA train on Track 3 in the Northeast Corridor section in Hyde Park. The male was pronounced deceased. Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Boston Man assaults T operator/Arrested
On October 16th, 2012 at approximately 7:45 pm Transit Police officers assigned to Area 3 were dispatched to Dudley and Hampden Street's in Roxbury for a report of a male who had just punched out a MBTA bus door window. Upon arrival officers were informed that a male, later identified as Carlos Ramirez-Rodrigue, 38 of Boston,MA., boarded a MBTA bus at the intersection of Blue Hill Ave and Dudley Street and immediately became confrontational and combative towards the operator. The operator requested Ramirez-Rodrigue get off the bus, which he did. However while doing so Ramirez-Rodrigue began spitting several times in the operator's direction. As soon as Ramirez-Rodrigue was off the bus the operator closed the doors. At this time Ramirez-Rodrigue punched the door window several times ultimately shattering the glass. Ramirez-Rodrigue fled the scene and was stopped by Boston Police officers who notified Transit Police. Transit Police placed Ramirez-Rodrigue into custody for Malicious Destruction of Property and transported him to Transit Police HQ for processing, usually the story ends here.
Once back at HQ Ramirez-Rodrigue again became combative, this time towards the officers violently attacking them. Officers were able to bring Ramirez-Rodrigue under control. During the booking process Ramirez-Rodrigue was found to be in possession of Marijuana. Ramirez-Rodrigue was additionally charged with Assault & Battery on a Police Officer (2) counts and issued a civil citation for the marijuana. Ramiriez-Rodrigue will appear in Roxbury District Court sometime today.

During the booking process Ramirez-Rodrigue was found to be in possession of Marijuana. Ramiriez-Rodrigue will appear in Roxbury District Court sometime today.
