Dorchester man arrested for robbery w/firearm.

On October 8, 2017 at approximately 5:30PM Transit Police officers received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Shawmut Ave Station for a report of an Armed Robbery. Upon arrival officers located the victim, a male, who informed the officers of the following; while at Shawmut Station the victim was approached by two male assailants who, while armed with a firearm, did rob the victim of his personal property as well as assault him with the firearm. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for emergency treatment.

Subsequent to an investigation by Transit Police detectives, Joseph Gomes, 21, of Dorchester was identified as one of the assailants. Detectives applied for and were granted a warrant to arrest Gomes as well as search his residence for evidence. On October 13, 2017 members of the Transit Police Department executed the search/arrest warrants at Gomes' residence. Gomes was located inside the residence and placed into custody. Additionally, TPD detectives seized a .40 Calibre firearm with a round in the chamber and several rounds loaded in the magazine. TPD Detectives also seized what they believed to be crack cocaine from Gomes' possession. Gomes was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.   

The investigation is ongoing.
