Somerville man threatens T bus operator for "Driving to slow".....

 On July 15, 2022 at approximately 6:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the North District received a radio call to respond to the area of Highland Ave and Benton Street in Somerville for an MBTA bus operator who was being threatened by a passenger. Upon arrival officers met with the T operator who relayed the following: A male, later identified as Wakell Steele, 22, of Somerville boarded the victim's bus at Davis Sq. As the operator was traveling along the route Steele activated the stop request signal. The operator/victim pulled over at the next available stop. At this time Steele approached the victim and demanded his money back accusing the victim of "F***ING driving to slow". At this time Steele quickly picked up a chock block located near the storage compartment of the front of the bus. A chock block is a large block of wood weighing approximately 5 pounds. The block is used to secure the tires when the bus is not in use. Steele now armed with the chock block took an aggressive stance and again demanded he be refunded his bus fare repeating the victim drove to slow. The victim was in fear of being struck. 

The victim got out from his seat and exited the bus pushing past Steele. The victim pointed out Steele to officers who was now walking towards Central Street. Officers caught up to him and attempted to engage him in conversation. Steele responded by challenging the officers to remove their duty belts essentially opining officers are only "tough" with their guns on. Steele was placed into custody for Assault by Mean of a Dangerous Weapon and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

     On July 8, 2022 at approximately 7:30PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Savin Hill station for a report of an unresponsive male on the platform. Boston EMS was also dispatch to the scene. Upon arrival EMS and officers located a male who appeared to be suffering from trauma about his facial area and chest. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for non life threatening injuries. 

Subsequent to an investigation it was determined the victim was physically assaulted by another, unknown male, to whom the victim may be acquainted with while inside the station. Please take a good look at the photograph depicted within of a subject of interest in this incident. Bronx woman wanted in New Jersey draws attention to herself at MBTA South Station.

 On July 14, 2022 at approximately 9:30AM Transit Police MOP Unit officers were on patrol at the MBTA's South Station Commuter Rail lobby when they were alerted by a concerned citizen of a female who was harassing another commuter and actually spat upon that person. Officers immediately proceeded in that direction and encountered the offending female, later identified as Pia Weber, 51, of the Bronx, NY. The victim did not wish to pursue any charges against Weber, however officers discovered there was an extraditable warrant for Weber's arrest issued out of the Hudson County Sheriffs Office in New Jersey for Assaulting a Police Officer. 

Transit Police Operations Center confirmed law enforcement officials in New Jersey were still interested in executing the warrant. Officers arrested Weber for being a Fugitive from Justice and transported her to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Dorchester man already wanted for Assault attacks fellow passengers on board Red Line train.

 On July 13, 2022 at approximately 3:30PM members of the Transit Police MOP Unit responded to the MBTA's JFK station for a report of a male assaulting passengers on board a Red Line train. Upon arrival officers were met by several victims and witnesses who relayed the following: while traveling on a northbound red line train between Ashmont and JFK a male, later identified as Eugene Wright, 42, of Dorchester was threatening and then ultimately physically assaulting other passengers by striking them with closed fists, kicking them and throwing a metal bottle. The attack was unprovoked. 

Officers located Wright on the opposite platform, where he was positively identified as the offending male. Officers placed Wright into custody and transported him to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process it was discovered Wright had a warrant in existence for his arrest issued out of Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Assault & Battery. Wright will be additionally charged with Assault & Battery Dangerous Weapon-Shod Foot, Assault & Battery Dangerous Weapon-Bottle, Assault & Battery and Disorderly Conduct for a total of 4 victims.

Lawrence man arrested for possession of a Ghost Gun.


 On July 12, 2022 at approximately 12:50PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's South Station for an unknown disturbance. Upon arrival at the Bus Terminal's 5th floor parking area officers were met by two victims who relayed the following: 2 employees of a construction company performing work on the garage observed a male, later identified as Jose Lara, 30, of Lawrence trespassing in a restricted area. The victims confronted Lara and informed him he needed to leave. Lara got angry and closed fisted struck the victim in the face and began to flee. The 2nd victim attempted to stop Lara and was also struck in the face. Officers received a description and direction of flight. 

Officers located Lara on Kneeland Street and he was positively identified as the offending male by the victims. Lara was observed discarding a back pack during his flight, the back pack was recovered by TPD officers. Inside officers located a 9mm "Ghost" handgun with a high capacity magazine with several rounds. Lara was placed into custody and transported to TPD HQ for the arrest booking process.

Malden man already wanted for Lascivious Conduct solicits female at South Station.

 On July 8, 2022 at approximately 4AM Transit Police officers responded to the MBTA's Bus Terminal at South Station for a report of a female victim being harassed by an unknown male. Upon arrival officers were met by the victim who informed the officers while waiting in the bus terminal she was approached by a male who requested she engage in sexual conduct with him for a fee. The victim provided a description of the offending male and officers conducted an area search in the South Station area. Officers located the male, later identified as Cassios Lima, 52, of Malden. Lima furnished a false name and date of birth to officers. Undeterred TPD discovered the true identity of Lima which revealed there was two outstanding warrants for Lima's arrest issued out of Malden District Court for  Lewd & Lascivious Conduct and Open & Gross Lewdness. Lima was placed into custody and transported to TPD-HQ for the arrest booking process.

Juveniles arrested at JFK-UMass station for assault.

 On June 30, 2022 at approximately 10:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's JFK-UMass station for a report of train windows that were maliciously damaged. Upon arrival officers were directed to a 53 year old male victim and witness who collectively relayed the following information: A group of juveniles while on the Ashmont platform began kicking and striking Red Line train car windows breaking them in the process. The group then proceeded to the Station's pick up drop off area and approached an off duty cab driver/victim. The juveniles told the victim they wanted a ride, the victim explained to the group he was not working and was there to pick up a family member. The group responded by spitting on him, attacking him with a hammer and a glass bottle.  A witness then pointed out the offending juveniles to responding officers. 

Officers approached the group who immediately fled. Based on the quick decisive actions and teamwork of TPD officers the juveniles were apprehended. Officers placed a male juvenile 14, of Boston into custody for Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon-Glass Bottle, a female Juvenile 16, of Boston for Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon-Hammer and will summons a male juvenile 13, of Boston for Spitting on the victim. Officers will determine further charges for the malicious destruction of the train windows upon video review.
