Man from New York arrested for selling FAKE tickets

On January 16, 2015 at approximately 2:15pm Transit Police Officer Matt Donovan, assigned to Area 1, was on patrol at the MBTA's South Station Commuter Rail. While there he was approached by a 25 year old male from Massachusetts who informed him of the following. The male answered an ad posted on Craigslist to purchase 4 New England Patriots playoff tickets for Sunday's game for approximately 800.00 dollars. The seller and the male agreed to meet at the MBTA's South Station. While the male was waiting for the seller to arrive he saw a tweet posted on Boston's Fox 25 news twitter account relative to fraudulent playoff tickets. The tickets referenced in the news account were the exact same seats and section of the stadium the male was scheduled to purchase. Armed with the information the male sought out Transit Police Officer Donovan.

Randy Garcia

Shortly thereafter the seller, later identified as Randy Garcia, 22, of New York City arrived at South Station. Subsequent to Officer Donovan's investigation the tickets were determined to be fraudulent. Garcia was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. It is expected Garcia will be arraigned sometime on Tuesday (01/20/2015) in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Larceny Over 250.00 by False Pretense.

Transit Police Detectives are seeking the identity of the individual depicted within. On Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at approximately 6:10 PM, the subject depicted within spat on an MBTA Bus Operator.  The incident occurred onboard an MBTA Route #17 Bus near the intersection of Bowdoin Street and Norton Street in the city of Boston.

The subject is described as follows:
  Black male, medium build, wearing a “New England Patriots” blue knit winter cap, a black jacket over a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and tan work boots.

   Black male, approximately 30 years of age, 6’00” in height, with dreads and facial hair, wearing a black jacket with designs on the sleeves and black pants

Death Investigation Uphams Corner

On January 11, 2014 at approximately 4:10pm Transit Police officers working in Area 3 received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Uphams Corner Commuter Rail station for a report of a lifeless body. Multiple TPD units responded along with Boston EMS, Transit Police personnel on scene report the following preliminary information: a white male, age undetermined at this time, was found deceased on the platform. Items located near the decedent suggest an apparent overdose. Transit Police detectives along with representatives of the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office are currently investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. Foul play is NOT suspected.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at approximately 2:50 PM, an MBTA  a bus operator was assaulted and spat upon by a male passenger onboard a Route # 33 MBTA bus at the intersection of River Street and George Street in the city of Boston.

Again, on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at approximately 1:45 PM, The same MBTA Bus operator encountered the same male passenger while operating a Route # 33 bus in the area of 860 River Street, in Hyde Park.

 When the Bus operator opened the bus doors, the depicted male subject attempted to board the bus. The bus operator, in fear, quickly shut the door as the male subject shouted, “When I see you again I’m going to kill you.” 

 The subject is described as follows;

·         A black male 20-25 years of age, 5'08” in height, thin build, sandy brown hair, wearing a blue charcoal colored sweatshirt and a baseball cap

South Weymouth w/warrant draws attention to himself. Arrested.

Joseph Granigan

On January 5, 2015 at approximately 5:15pm Transit Police officers working in Area 1 were on patrol at the MBTA's South Station Commuter Rail. While there they were approached by a concerned patron who informed them a male was making inappropriate comments to female patrons. The officers located the male subject, later identified as Joseph Granigan, 48, of South Weymouth inside the lobby area. Subsequently officers discovered there was a warrant in existence for Granigan's arrest issued from Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Distribution of a Controlled Class E substance. Granigan was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

Point of Entry Policing continues 2015

Ivan Rivera

On January 2, 2015 at approximately 5:49pm Transit Police officers working in Area 3 were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's Andrew Sq. station. While there their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Ivan Rivera, 25, of Middleboro, fare evade by "piggybacking" in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Rivera for the purpose of issuing a citation and subsequently discovered there were warrants in existence for his arrest issued from Quincy District Court motor vehicle violations. Rivera was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
