Man wanted for Assaulting Police arrested by TPD after fare evading

On July 10, 2017 at approximately 5:50PM Transit Police officers assigned to the Crime Suppression Team were conducting Point of Entry Policing at the MBTA's Andrew Sq. Station. While there they had their attention drawn to a male, later identified as James Tocchio, 42, of Boston fare evade by "piggybacking" in behind a paying customer. Officers approached Tocchio for the purposes of issuing a citation. Officers subsequently discovered there were several warrants in existence for Tocchio's arrest issued Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Disturbing the Peace and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.


Tocchio was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.
